GOULDSBORO, PROVIDENCE, R.I. and GREENVILLE, N.C. – Mrs. Thelma Bowie Fox, 94, passed away Oct. 8, 2006, at Franklin Mountain Vista Group Home. She was born May 22, 1912, in Pelzer, S.C., the daughter of Paul and Alrie (Girardeau) Bowie. Thelma graduated from Alexander Schools in 1929, Union Mills, S.C. Throughout her life, Thelma enjoyed gardening, growing plants and flowers, indoors and out. She was an excellent baker, especially decorating cakes; an avid reader of books; and also enjoyed needlepoint and sewing. All of these things she truly enjoyed sharing with her family. She will be sadly missed by all. She is survived by two sons, William Jr. and wife, Loretta, of Gouldsboro and James and wife, Margaret, of Gouldsboro; four grandchildren, William III, Rhyne, Carey and Robert; eight great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Kassidy, Jacob, Noah, Amanda, Zoe, Olivia, and Piper. She was predeceased by her husband, William R. Fox Sr.; and three brothers. Burial will be private for family at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, R.I.
