GUILFORD – Nettie M. Swanson, 97, died Feb. 12, 2004, at a Dexter healthcare facility. She was proud of the fact that she was born May 21, 1906, in the Slab City section of Parkman, the daughter of Herbert and Myrtle (Downs) Perkins. She graduated from Guilford High School, Class of 1925, and attended Farmington Normal School. Nettie married Anselm Swanson on Feb. 11, 1928. She was a homemaker and lived most of her married life in Monson. However, she enjoyed sorting apples with “the girls” for many seasons at Blanchard’s apple orchards in Blanchard. She was predeceased by her husband of many years, Anselm Swanson; her sisters, Fay Partridge, Flora True, Avis Day and Amber Perkins; nieces, Audrey Gourley and Mary Cross; and nephews, Robert and Herbert Bridge and Richard True. She is survived by a niece and her husband, Sharrel and Leonard Nilson of Sangerville; two nephews, Galen Bridge of Arizona, and Nelson Bridge of Abbot; many great and great-great-nieces and nephews. At Nettie’s request there will be no public funeral services. Spring burial will be in Monson. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Guilford.
