HAMPDEN – Susan Abraham, born in Salem, Mass., Feb. 5, 1990 – May 3, 2007, lived but a short time upon this Earth, but accomplished far more than most people achieve in decades. To speak of Susan only in terms of her talents, abilities and service to the community would be doing a disservice to her, for only those who met her could ever comprehend how truly special she was. That being said, Susan was a talented artist, an outstanding student and a competitive swimmer. Rather than taking a more traditional after-school job, Susan continued her life of service into the workplace by working at the Lura E. Hoit Memorial Pool as a lifeguard, where she was considered to be both a competent guard and a diligent worker. Susan also helped serve the global community through her participation in Youth Adelantando. Susan’s political action is note-worthy, she served as a page at the Maine Democratic Convention and was a frequenter of many political events. At the conclusion of her life, Susan continued to give to others by donating her organs. Susan was predeceased by her grandfather, Richard Previer; and her grandparents, Stanley W. and Doris R. (Rogers) Abraham. She is of course, sorely missed by her family; father, Stanley Abraham and mother, Carol Abraham; her brother and best friend, Stanley III; her grandmother, Marilyn (Blaney) Grieves and John Grieves; and her sisters, Nicole Rivas, Alison Howe and Jennifer DaCosta. She is also survived by uncles, aunts, cousins and relatives, too countless to enumerate. Finally, she is survived by the thousands of friends she made throughout her lifetime. She loved and continues to love all of you very, very much. Two memorial services will be held. The first will be held 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Susan’s home, 82 Meadow Road, Hampden, and will consist of a bonfire and be informal and multi-faith. The second will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. There will also be two visiting periods, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 7, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, Hampden. Messages of condolence or memories may be shared through www.hampdengilpatrick.com Before her passing, Susan was working on a project to help a little boy with leukemia accomplish his life’s goal, he wanted to be in the Guinness Book of World Records for receiving the most birthday cards.
