WALTER ‘BUD’ W. SARGENT III BAR HARBOR – Walter “Bud” Sargent III, 71, died Dec. 30, 2003, in Bangor. He was born July 24, 1932, in Bar Harbor, the son of Walter W. and Ruth Agnes (Higgins) Sargent Jr. Bud grew up on the Old Homestead Dairy Farm, in what used to be known as the Emery District in Hulls Cove. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed time target shooting with his family and special friend, David Buzynski. Bud enjoyed walking and jogging and keeping himself fit. He graduated in 1950 from Bar Harbor High School and served in the U.S. Navy Sea Bee’s during the Korean Conflict. He worked for New England Telephone Company for more than 30 years, which he enjoyed very much. Bud is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Ann (Bunker) Sargent of Bar Harbor; three children, Glen A. Sargent and wife, Mary, of Lincolnville, William R. Sargent and wife, Susan of Trenton and Sueann Sargent Salsbury and husband, Roland “Sandy” III, of Town Hill, Bar Harbor; one sister, Barbara Gray and husband, Brad, of Salisbury Cove; and three grandchildren, Emily Ann Sargent, Elizabeth Jean Sargent and Colleen Ruth Sargent; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church, Bar Harbor, with the Rev. Jonathan Appleyard officiating. Private interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Hulls Cove.
