UM-Fort Kent 3, SUNY Canton 1
At Portland, second-seeded University of Maine at Fort Kent scored two unanswered goals to upset No. 1 SUNY Canton to win the Sunrise Conference championship on Sunday.
SUNY Canton defeated No. 2 University of Maine at Machias 4-0 in the semifinals.
UM-Fort Kent out lasted No. 3 University of Maine at Presque Isle in penalty kicks.
In the championship game, freshman Whitney Sinclair scored all three goals for the 17-3 Bengals. Stephanie Schofield and Brianne McGary recorded assists. Kayla Daigle saved seven of 24 shots.
Niki Perkins scored in the second half off a Justine Monahan assist for 14-4-1 SUNY Canton. Aubrey Parrish turned away six of 16 shots.
Husson 2, UM-Farmington 1
At Bangor, Shelby Bradford of Lee scored both goals in the second half to lead Husson University past the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers for their second straight North Atlantic Conference championship on Saturday.
Bradford, who was named tourney MVP , scored 41 seconds into the second half unassisted off a throw-in and added her second goal five minutes later on a pass from Samantha Homer.
Tatyana Wolterbeek made three saves on seven shots fo the 15-4 Husson Eagles.
Amber Murphy scored on a Julie Walters assist for the 10-8 Beavers. Mckell Barnes made nine saves on 21 shots.
The rest of the all-tourney team includes Julie Walters, Katie Schwarz and Amanda Byrne from UMF; Kylan Smith, Katie Nickerson and Samantha Homer of Husson; Monique Couture and Karin Bellimare of Green Mountain; and Carisa Chadburn and Katie Hoxsie of Castleton State.
Husson advances to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the fourth time in the last six years.
Women’s Ice Hockey
Maine drops two
At Storrs, Conn. and Boston, Mass., the University of Maine dropped a pair of road games this weekend with a 5-2 loss to the University of Connecticut on Saturday and a 4-1 loss to Northeastern University on Sunday.
In Saturday’s game, Cristin Allen scored two goals for 6-3-2 Connecticut. Dominique Thibeault, Amy Hollstein and Michelle Binning also scored. Brittany Wilson made 11 saves off 13 shots.
Jennie Gallo scored off assists from Jenna Ouellette and Dawn Sullivan at 7:41 in the first period to tie it at 1-1 for-Maine. Gallo tied it again at 2-2 with an Ouellette assist at 15:27 in the second. Genevieve Turgeon saved 36 of 41 shots.
In Sunday’s game, Julia Marty scored three goals to power 6-1-2 Northeastern. Kristi Kehoe added a goal and an assist. Florence Schelling stopped 27 of 28 shots.
Jordan Colliton netted the goal for the Black Bears in the first period on an assist from Abby Barton. Geneviev Turgeon made 25 saves on 29 shots for 2-8 Maine.

UM-Fort Kent loses two
At Fort Kent, Gregory St. Amand had 13 points and 12 rebounds as Quebec Montreal defeated the University of Maine at Fort Kent 64-60 Sunday. Walsh also beat the Bengals 83-52 on Saturday.
Hamill Bassue and Jimmy Lopez scored 17 points apiece against Quebec Montreal. Brandon Fox led the Bengals with 18 points and 12 rebounds against Walsh.

At Bangor, Castleton State College outscored Husson Uni-versity 5-3 in overtime penalty kicks to win the North Atlantic Conference Championship.
Greg Klopfer scored off a T.J. Mazza assist 3:28 into the sec-ond half to give 13-8 Castleton State a 1-0 lead.
Josh Labonte scored an un-assisted goal at 34:44 to tie it for 10-7 Husson.
Tournament MVP Mike An-thony of Castleton State saved seven of eight shots while Hus-son’s Miguel Dominguez turned away four of five shots.
Ryan Hahn, Corey Robbins, Mazza, Jason Potter and Klop-fer converted their penalty kicks for Castleton State.
Castleton State advances to the NCAA III National Tour-nament for the fourth time in six years.
UM-Fort Kent 3, SUNY Canton 0
At Portland, top-seeded Uni-versity of Maine at Fort Kent scored three second-half goals to down No. 3 SUNY Canton and hand the Bengals the Sun-rise Conference Championship Sunday.
The Bengals downed No. 4 University of Maine at Machias 6-0 in the semifinals on Saturday while SUNY Canton beat No. 2 UM-Presque Isle 4-0.
In the championship game, Dwayne Smith, Walford Stew-art and Andre Anderson scored goals for 20-0 UM-Fort Kent. Keith Williams II assisted Smith’s goal. Giovanni Sinclair turned away three of nine shots.
Eamon Case saved 11 of 31 shots for the 10-8-2 Roos.
Field hockey
Castleton State 4, Saint Joseph’s 3
At Castleton, Vt., Kayla Blank scored an unassisted goal 1:33 into overtime to give top-seeded Castleton State College the North Atlantic Conference championship over No. 3 Saint Joseph’s College of Standish on Saturday.
Kayla Blank also scored in the first half off a Carolyn Griggs assist for 14-7 Castleton State. Griggs added two goals with assists from Molly Fraher and Blank. Trisha Clark saved 12 of 17 shots.
Saint Joseph’s erased a 3-1 deficit to tie it at 3-3 when Julia Ostrowki scored an unassisted goal with less than two minutes remaining in regulation.
Courtney Rague scored the other two goals for the 14-5 Monks. Kayla Nowell and Sara Bartell provided assists. Meaghan Johnson turned away 10 of 25 shots.

Maine Maritime 66, Fitchburg 32
At Castine, junior fullback Jim Bower rushed for 229 yards on 23 carries and scored three touchdowns, spearheading the Mariners to victory over the Falcons to clinch the New Eng-land Football Conference Bogan Division championship.
Maine Maritime Academy (7-3, 6-1 Bogan) will play host to Boyd Division winner Ply-mouth State in Saturday’s con-ference championship game at Ritchie Field. The winner earns the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tourna-ment.
MMA broke school records for rushing touchdowns (8) and total offensive yards (572) while rolling past Fitchburg State (4-6, 4-3). Bower ran for TDs of 15, 2 and 16 yards for the Mariners, who piled up 44 first-half points.
Todd Murphy netted 105 yards on three carries, while backup quarterback Matthew Rende, filling in for Tyler An-gell, gained 80 yards on 10 at-tempts with scoring runs of 6 and 52 yards. Nick Bourassa picked up 62 yards on four car-ries, including a 56-yard TD jaunt.
Cody Andrews made nine tackles while Wade Mondoux (two interceptions) and Travis Fergola (one INT) each made eight each for the Mariners.

Husson 48, Becker 13
At Leicester, Mass., the tail-back tandem of Julius Williams and Justin Lindie of Winslow combined for 406 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns as the Eagles ended their regular season with a resounding vic-tory over the Eagles.
Husson appears to be a strong candidate for an ECAC bowl bid and may have an out-side shot at earning an NCAA Division III at-large bid.
Williams rolled up 193 yards on 19 carries, including scoring runs of 1 and 27 yards. Lindie picked up 105 yards on 11 tries, turning in touchdown scampers of 46, 3 and 20 yards. He also returned a punt 51 yards for a score.
Quarterback James McCan-dless ran for a 19-yard TD and also completed 6 of 11 passes for 94 yards. Husson finished with 500 yards of total offense.
Darius Charlton was in on eight tackles for the Eagles, while Cory Smith made six hits, including a sack.

Waterville 5, Gorham 1
At Bath, Waterville scored five unanswered goals to snap Gorham’s 70-game unbeaten streak and win the Class A State Championship.
Waterville avenges last year’s loss to Gorham in the state title game.
Rachele Burns headed in a Lauren Chouinard free kick 1:43 into the game for 17-1 Gorham. Gorham was 68-0-2 coming into the game.
Paige Gardiner scored at 10:51 into the first to tie it for 18-0 Waterville. Senior Jordan Pellerin added two more goals to make it a 3-1 halftime lead.
Kylee Gardiner and Laura Tozier scored second-half goals for Waterville. Stephanie Whit-ten provided three assists and Paige Gardiner had two assists.
Football
John Bapst 41, Foxcroft 22
At Cameron Stadium in Bangor, Billy Wetherbee ran for 153 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries to help lead the John Bapst Crusaders past Foxcroft Academy in an LTC Class C semifinal on Saturday.
Derek Smith completed nine of 22 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns while also throwing two interceptions. Chase Huckestein caught two 48-yard TD passes and ran for another score as the Crusaders scored 20 points in the fourth quarter to rally from a 14-7 deficit.
John Bapst gained 474 total yards on 29 rushing plays and 22 pass plays.
For the visiting Ponies, Ian Champeon ran for one touchdown and 74 yards on 11 carries. Ryan Stroud completed eight of 14 passes for 118 yards, a touchdown and one interception. Stetson Bowden returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown.
The Ponies will not advance beyond the semifinal round for the first time since 2000.
