BANGOR, Maine — Eastern Maine Medical Center is urging people traveling on State Street to slow down and use extra caution while navigating the stretch of road around EMMC as the next phase of EMMC’s parking garage expansion has begun.

The work requires closing State Street’s south sidewalk and several feet of the eastbound lane.

In late July, EMMC began work on a parking garage expansion on its State Street campus. In early January, a 180-foot-tall crane arrived to assist with the three-month process of unloading and placing pre-cast pieces for the garage.

Pre-cast pieces will be unloaded from State Street during the next three months, and the parking garage expansion is expected to be complete this June. Patients and visitors are encouraged to use EMMC’s valet parking at the main entrance for timely and hassle-free parking.
