At Presque Isle, Oliver Zubrick tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds to spark No. 2 Presque Isle by No. 15 Bucksport. Russ Mortland added 10 points and six assists for the Wildcats. Dom Kone scored seven points to pace Bucksport.

Maranacook 76, Ellsworth 59

At Ellsworth, the ninth-ranked Black Bears from Readfield outscored No. 8 Ellsworth 25-11 in the third quarter to stretch a seven-point halftime lead to 19 en route to the comfortable win. The defending Class B state champion Black Bears improve to 13-6 while Ellsworth finishes 12-7. Maranacook takes on undefeated and top ranked Camden Hills of Rockport in a 4:30 p.m. quarterfinal Saturday. After Ellsworth had lowered what had been a 16-point Maranacook lead to seven, the Black Bears scored the first 10 points of the third quarter to take control. Four Maranacook players finished in double figures, led by Ben Johnson’s 16 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots while Pat Norwood also had 16. Sam Poulin had 12 points and nine assists while Devin Gerrity had 12. Ryan Petros posted 24 points to lead Ellsworth while Brad Folmer registered 16.

Foxcroft 46, Caribou 45

At Caribou, Ryan Stroud fired in 14 points including four 3-pointers to pace the No. 13 Ponies to an up-set win over the No. 4 Vikings. Ian Champeon contributed 13 points for Foxcroft. Sam Robertson scored a game high 18 points and Cameron Anderson added 12 for Caribou.

Hermon 51, MA Lynx 48 (OT)

At Hermon, junior guard Colton Gross hit a 3-pointer from the left wing as time expired in overtime as the No. 5 Hawks outlasted No. 12 Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln. Gross took a pass from teammate Kevin Tarr an connected on his third 3-pointer of the game, but first since the opening period. Gross finished with a game-high 20 points, 14 in the fourth quarter and overtime. He made three free throws — the third after a Mattanawcook timeout — after being fouled with 1.5 seconds left in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Tarr added 14 points for coach Mark Reed’s club, while Andy Ball had eight points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots. Hermon (15-4) withstood a big performance by Mattanawcook senior guard Brady Vose, who scored a game-high 32 points. The Lynx’s 1,000-point scorer made just 7 of 22 shots from the field against considerable defensive pressure, but made 17 of 19 free-throw attempts. Wayne Campbell and Lance Bernier each added six points for MA, which ended its season with a 9-10 record.

Medomak Val. 47, Erskine 28

At Waldoboro, Daniel Aubel scored eight of his game-high 15 points in the fourth quarter to help No. 6 Medomak Valley preserve the victory over No. 11 Erskine Academy of South China. Alex Goldrup added nine points for the Panthers, while point guard Dale Winchenbach contributed eight points and a strong floor game and Alex MacKenzie had seven points and 14 rebounds. Steve White led Erskine with nine points.

MDI 39, Winslow 36

At Winslow, 10th-seeded Mount Desert Island outscored Winslow 12-2 over the final 3½ minutes and Nate Ward’s jumper with 53 seconds left gave the Trojans the lead for good at 37-36. Freshman Jayson Burke and Jasper Cousins had 11 points apiece for the winners and Terrance Jones chipped in with nine points. Scott Siviski and Mike McCann had a game-high 12 points apiece for the seventh-seeded Black Raiders.

Rockland 58, Gardiner 55

At Rockland, the third-ranked Tigers rallied from an eight-point deficit with three minutes remaining to outlast No. 14 Gardiner. A 3-pointer by Teel Ilvonen and a steal and layup by Nick Baudanza started the comeback, and two free throws by Lincoln Dresser later tied the game. Luke Morrill’s two free throws with just over a minute remaining gave Rockland the lead, and Ilvonen added an insurance bas-ket with 14 seconds remaining. Rockland made 18 of 23 free throws for the game, compared to 13 of 22 for Gardiner. Baudanza finished with a game-high 22 points for Rockland, while Ilvonen scored 14 and point guard Chris Nolan added 10. Mike Denham paced Gardiner with 15 points, while Eric Goodwin scored 14 and Donnie Cray had 13.

Narraguagus 82, Madawaska 66

At Harrington, Steve Strout led five Narraguagus scorers in double figures with 23 points as the No. 8 Knights defeated No. 9 Madawaska. Blake Chase scored 21 points while Andrew Polley had 14. Daniel Bradbury netted 11 points and Josh Beal added 10 for Narraguagus. Deejay Gendreau led Madawaska with 17 points. Tim Albert posted 14 points while Adam Derosier added 10.

Lee Acad. 60, Piscataquis 59

At Lee, Dean MacDonald hit a 10-foot jumper with five seconds remaining in the game to lift No. 6 Lee Academy past No. 11 Piscataquis of Guilford. Tyler Doty scored for Lee with 30 seconds left to make it a one-point game. Doty finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds. A.J. Harris and Grant Sun sparked the Pandas with 17 points and 10 rebounds each. Corbin Shufelt led Piscataquis with 24 points. Cody Briggs scored 14 points and Nolan Lovell added 12.

Sumner 64, Houlton 45

At East Sullivan, Dan Leighton scored 17 of his game-high 25 points in the first half to spark No. 7 Sumner by No. 10 Houlton. Woody Huber tallied 16 points and 10 rebounds while Chris Weaver grabbed 13 rebounds for the Tigers. Peter Gervais paced Houlton with 15 points while James Bates chipped in with 14.

Cen. Aroostook 84, Machias 29

At Mars Hill, second seed Central Aroostook received a game-high 29 points from Manny Martinez, including 10 during a decisive 32-6 second period, to cruise past No. 15 Machias. Logan McLaughlin had 11 points, Caleb Kelly had nine and Mitch Folsom scored eight points for the winners. Ty Richards’ 12 points and Mike Jenkins’ seven led Machias.

Shead 66, GHCA 47

At Eastport, Justin Lewey netted 21 points to propel No. 3 Shead by No. 14 Greater Houlton Christian Academy. Tom Pottle added 17 points while Wayne Clossey grabbed 12 rebounds for the Tigers. Chad Duff paced Greater Houlton Christian with 23 points. Zach Straubel chipped in with 12 points.

Katahdin 81, Jonesport-Beals 58

At Stacyville, No. 7 Katahdin jumped out to a 25-9 first quarter lead en route to victory over No. 10 Jonesport-Beals. Evan McCarthy led the Cougars with 21 points and 10 assists. Brandon Robinson scored 20 points while Ethan Qualey added 18. Justin Alley, Andrew Beal and Matt Alley each scored 13 points to pace Jonesport-Beals.

Woodland 75, Hodgdon 51

At Woodland, Ben Sears scored 10 of his 13 points in the first quarter and Aaron St. Pierre nailed two of Woodland’s four three-pointers in the quarter as the fourth-seeded Dragons built a 21-10 lead and never looked back. Chad James had a game-high 20 points and also dished out eight assists for Woodland, St. Pierre finished with 14 points, Sears had his 13 and Cory Rolfe contributed nine points and 11 rebounds. Chris Williams’ 18 points, Jake Tidd’s 12 and Andrew McGillicuddy’s 10 points led 13th seed Hodgdon.

Bangor Christian 59, Easton 37

At Easton, Brett Bradford tallied a game-high 23 points as No. 9 Bangor Christian topped No. 8 Easton. Tyler Alexander added 17 points for the Patriots. Brad Trask and Sam Bacon paced Easton with 14 points apiece.

SAHS 51, DI-Stonington 38

At Dyer Brook, Dakota Sleeper scored a game-high 28 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter to hold off the rallying Mariners from Deer Isle-Stonington. Sleeper had 13 first-quarter points as sixth seed Southern Aroostook built a 17-8 lead. His fourth-quarter points included a five-for-five showing from the foul line. He also had a game-high six steals for the Warriors. Tyler Robinson added nine points. Eben Powers’ 16 points and game-high 13 rebounds led the 11th-seeded Mariners. Dustin Powers and Joe Carter combined for 17 more points.

Ashland 75, Washburn 44

At Presque Isle, Jeremy Tarr connected for 40 points, including 17 in the third quarter, as fifth-ranked Ashland triumphed. Lucas Hafford contributed eight points and 11 rebounds for the Hornets. Jordan McLaughlin and Nick McIntosh had nine points each for No. 12 Washburn.

Brewer 10, Lawrence 1

At Sukee Arena in Winslow, Dylan Fitzpatrick, Chris Lopez, Tyler White and Nick Risser scored two goals apeice as the Witches cruised past Lawrence. Ryan Nadeau and Jacob Chapman each added a goal for 13-3-1 Brewer. Evan Nadeau grabbed three assists while Steve Farley and Fitzpatrick each had two. Eric White and Matt Sloan combined to make 18 saves on 19 shots for the Witches. Connor Walsh scored for Lawrence on an assist from Anthony Boudreau. Chris Caron and Brad MacKenzie combined for 21 saves on 31 shots for the 9-8 Bulldogs.

Bangor 4, Messalonskee 1

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Chad Kelley, Johnny Warren and Darren Casey-Covill each scored a goal late in the second period to spark Bangor by Messalonskee. Joey Seccareccia added a goal in the third for Bangor. Alan Reese, Nick George, Nic Cota and Phil Frost each had an assist. Zack Hamilton and Chris Howat combined for 11 saves on 12 shots for the 13-4 Rams. Lucas Brochu scored an unassisted goal in the third period for 5-12 Messalonskee. Nate Delgiudice made 39 saves on 43 shots.

UMM 94, UMPI 75

At Presque Isle, Zach Armstrong scored 22 points while Eric Righter contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead UMaine-Machias by UM-Presque Isle. Gerardo Vasquez chipped in with 12 points for the winners. Ronald Spencer paced UMPI with 20 points, Devon Peaslee added 18, and Anthony Wingate put in 14.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

UMPI 60, UMM 43

At Presque Isle, Erica Davis scored 18 points and notched five assists to lead UMaine-Presque Isle by UM-Machias. Megan Korhonen chipped in with 14 points for the winners and Kathy Kilfoil grabbed 13 rebounds. Talaya Woodall paced UMM with 14 points.
