PORTLAND, Maine — Troopers say a Maine motorist hitting more than 100 mph led police through three states before getting caught in Massachusetts.

Maine State Trooper Anthony Keim says he clocked 24-year-old Christopher Goehringer’s 1990 BMW at autobahn speeds — 134 mph — and had trouble keeping up.< He says the Bangor man raced onto the Maine Turnpike at the Kennebunk exit at 4:15 p.m. Thursday and managed to avoid spike mats as he flew through the York toll plaza at 100 mph. He was arrested about 55 miles from Kennebunk after zooming through New Hampshire and eventually crashing into a trooper’s cruiser in Haverhill, Mass. Goehringer faces charges including failure to stop for a police officer, assault and battery.
