Brewer, Presque Isle split
At Presque Isle, Ted Walker and Logan McLaughlin hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning to help lead Presque Isle to the 13-7 win over Brewer in Sunday’s second game. Brewer took the first game 16-3.
In the first game, Tyler French hit two singles and a fifth-inning solo home run to pace Brewer. Greg Higgins hit three singles and knocked in a run. Steve Klenowski doubled and singled and Caleb Smith singled twice.
Ted Walker had a single and a two-run home run for Presque Isle.
In the second game, Hunter Caron hit a three-run double in the fourth inning and a three-run home run in the fifth to lead the Patriots. Wilder York and Mitch Folsom both singled twice. Walker and McLaughlin also singled.
French hit a single and a fifth-inning solo homer for the Falcons. Eric White and Chase Daniels each hit two singles.
Motor City sweeps Lincoln
At Millinocket, Matt Enman hit a two-run home run to highlight a six-run fourth inning and lead Motor City of Bangor past Lincoln 8-2 in Sunday’s second game. Motor City also won the first game 6-3.
In the first game, Nick Smith had a double and a fifth-inning two-run single for Motor City. Chris Hammond doubled, singled and drove in a run. Nick Pooler, Chris Hull and Miles Gagnon doubled.
Ivan Voisine hit a two-run homer in the first inning to lead the Lumber. Donnie Russell added an RBI single in the fourth.
In the second game, Pooler had two singles for Motor City and Nick Smith hit an RBI double.
Lance Bernier hit a run-scoring single in the third inning for Lincoln. Garen Manzo singled and scored in the first.
Calais sweeps Orono
At Mahaney Diamond, Orono, Ed Flaherty hit a two-out three-run double to highlight a 13-run first inning and lift Calais over Orono 14-4 in Sunday’s nightcap. Calais also won the first game 7-4.
In the first game, Tim Barnes hit three singles and scored two runs to lead Calais. Tom Pottle had a single and an RBI triple. Ryan Schoppee and Bryce Colbeth each had two singles and an RBI.
Dan LeBreton broke up Toby Woods’ no-hitter with a single in the sixth for Orono. Casey Eastes tripled and scored in the seventh and Kash Keezer had an RBI single.
In the second game, Tom Pottle hit three singles and knocked in a run for the Suns. Adam Geel had two singles and an RBI, Colbeth doubled and singled and Josh Gillespie had a two-run single in the first.
Dan LeBreton paced the Twins with three singles. Charlie Boyle hit an RBI triple in the second inning.
Bangor sweeps Steamboat
At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Ian Edwards pitched a five-hit shutout for a 5-0 Bangor victory in the first game and the Comrades produced a 10-hit attack in the second game for a 9-4 win and twinbill sweep over Steamboat Petroleum.
Edwards didn’t walk a batter and struck out six and aided his own cause by slamming a three-run triple in the fourth. He also singled and doubled. Lonnie Hackett chipped in with a double and RBI.
A.J. Chasse, Jack Davis, and Ethan McHatten each singled for Steamboat of Waldo County.
In the second game, Devin Lyshon and Joe Stanevich each hit two-run singles in the first inning to spark Bangor.
Shane Walton added a triple, single and RBI for Bangor and Stanevich also doubled. Edwards tripled and drove in a run.
Davis tripled and had two RBIs for Steamboat with Evan Kingsbury and Derrick Bernowsky each adding two singles apiece and Bernowsky driving in a run.
Hampden sweeps Penquis
At Hampden, Shawn Smith pitched a three-hitter to give Hampden a 16-1 win over Penquis in the first game and then tripled home the winning run in the second game for a 6-4 Hampden victory and doubleheader sweep.
In the first game, Smith struck out nine and only walked one batter. He aided his own cause with a two-run triple and RBI single. Nolan Turner and Josh Tardiff chipped in with two singles and two RBIs each.
Josiah Richard recorded an RBI single for Penquis and Emerson Sikes doubled.
In the second game, Hampden rallied for three runs in the sixth when Cody Johndro’s RBI single tied the game at 4-4 and Smith followed with a two-run triple for the winning edge. Tardiff added an RBI single in the first inning.
Sikes doubled and had an RBI single for Penquis, Richard singled twice and Jake Speed doubled.
