Searching out cracks in the wind
as she works her way east
in the face of a near hurricane,

Or swinging in mile-wide circles,
without a feather stirring
the entire length of the plane,
Riding the thermals upward
toward the sun,

With scarcely a glance at certain
two-tentacled creatures
clinging tighter than barnacles
to the rocks below.
