PORT ORCHARD, Wash., and MACHIAS – Jeffrey L. Whynott, 48, died Oct. 5, 2010, at a Port Orchard, Wash., health care facility. He was born Aug. 9, 1962, in Calais, the son of John J. and Judith (Reeves) Whynott. Jeffrey graduated from Machias Memorial High School in 1980. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on a Trident nuclear submarine. After his discharge from the Navy he formed his own business, Total Marine Electric Co., Seattle. He operated this business until failing health required him to retire. He was predeceased by his mother, Judith. He is survived by his daughter, Callie; son, John J. Whynott II; his companion, Lavita Bradley; his father, John J. Whynott; his brother, Jamey Whynott; his sister, Shannon Bond; many cousins, nieces and nephews. At Jeffrey’s request, there will be a committal to the sea on both coasts at a later date. Tis evening on the moorland free, the starlit wave is still. Home is the sailor from the sea, the hunter from the hill.
