BANGOR – Carl E. Blaisdell Jr., 83, passed away peacefully Dec. 6, 2010, at his home. He was born May 6, 1927, in Bangor, son of Dr. Carl E. Blaisdell Sr. and Nellie (Smiley) Blasidell. Carl worked for Husson College for many years as a custodian. He was active throughout his life enjoying golf and ice-skating. Many will remember the many winters he flooded an area in his backyard for perfect ice for all the kids to skate on. He also loved the time spent taking trips to the coast with frequent stops at Jordan’s, Ellsworth, and picnics with his nieces and nephews. Carl took pride in all that he did, but especially with the care of his yard, trees and flower gardens. He will be missed by the birds and squirrels that frequent his yard awaiting their daily feedings by Carl. Surviving, in addition to his wife of more than 60 years, Marilyn (Ayer) Blasidell, are one brother, Loren Blaisdell and his wife, Anita, of Millinocket; a half brother and half sister, John Blaisdell of Bangor and Jane Poisson and family of Virginia Beach, Va.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Marjorie; and his stepmother, Dorothy “Dottie” Blaisdell. He will be remembered by many good neighbors and friends. Family and friends are invited to a graveside service honoring and celebrating Carl’s life 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. James Haddix, pastor of All Souls Congregational Church, presiding. Those attending are asked to meet 12:45 p.m. at the cemetery office, State Street entrance.
