BANGOR, Maine — Christian radio stations WHCF 88.5 FM and Solution 105.7 FM are collecting baby items this month to help out “young mothers who are struggling,” according to a press release.

The sister stations on outer Broadway are collecting diapers, baby wipes, washcloths, thermometers, first aid kits, diaper rash cream, nail clippers, rattles, toys, books, bottles, bibs and clothing for infants. Donations of cash and gift cards also will be accepted.

The collection is held in January, which has been designated “Sanctity of Human Life Month.” The U.S. Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal throughout the country was handed down on Jan. 22, 1973.

The promotion, dubbed “Bangor’s Biggest Baby Shower,” will benefit the Pregnancy Care Center in Houlton, First Step Pregnancy Resource Center in Bangor and Family Resource Center in Calais.

Items may be dropped off through Jan. 31 at the following locations:

• Greater Houlton Christian Academy, 27 School St., Houlton.

• The Growing Place, 1209 Broadway and 554 Hammond St., Bangor.

• Border Town Subz, 313 Main St., Calais.

• Madison Mattress & Furniture, 704 White School House Road, Madison.

• Maynard’s Chocolates, Hathaway Creative Center, 10 Water St., Waterville.
