Women’s barbershop quartet holding open house

BANGOR, Maine — The Heart of Maine Chorus, a women’s barbershop group and chapter of Sweet Adelines International, is hosting an open house at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 23, at 639 Grandview Ave. in Bangor.

The open house is an opportunity for interested individuals to observe a working rehearsal, basic techniques of harmony and participate in learning a song. Light refreshments and a question and answer period will follow the presentation.

Affordable housing committee holding lunch seminar

HOLDEN, Maine — A workshop on interpreting the forested landscape of Fields Pond will be held 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 21, at Fields Pond Audubon Center in Holden. We’ll search for evidence of ecological disturbances such as agriculture, fire, logging and storms, piece together the mystery of why Fields Pond looks the way it does, and build skills that can be applied in any forested landscape.
