KENDUSKEAG, Maine — Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. is planning a one-hour power interruption for Kenduskeag residents beginning at around 9 a.m. Thursday, June 2.
“This is a necessary interruption to enable an upgrade of lines crossing the Kenduskeag Stream in Kenduskeag,” a press release from the company states.
Areas affected include Stetson Road, Levant Road, Townhouse Road, Mudgett Road, Lacy Lane, Mill Road, Morey Road, Badershall Road, Clark Road, and customers located beyond the green bridge in Kenduskeag village.
If it rains on Thursday, the planned outage will be done on Friday.

LINCOLN, Maine — The Mattanawcook Junior High School bands, under the direction of Rose White, will present a multimedia band concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 9, in the junior high school gymnasium in Lincoln. The theme of this concert is “Common Ground,” inspired by saxophonist Paul Winter’s album.
The seventh- and eighth-grade band will perform programmatic music of the bald eagle, the wolf and the whale.

Benefit supper for Kand family scheduled for June 11
GUILFORD, Maine — A benefit supper will be held for the Kand family, who lost their Abbot home to fire last month, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at the Masonic Hall in Guilford. The family had no insurance and lost all their belongings.

Annual Three Rivers Kiwanis Sebec River Canoe and Kayak Race set for June 18
MILO, Maine — The annual Three Rivers Sebec River Canoe and Kayak Race will be held on Saturday, June 18.
The annual event draws racers who bring their custom boats from across the country.
Paddlers compete in nine racing and recreational classes for canoes and kayaks under Maine Canoe and Kayak Racing Organization rules. Some experience with rapids is advised, since there are areas of whitewater Class II as well as flat water stretches.

GUILFORD, Maine — More than 90 volunteers will work with Piscataquis Community Elementary School children during Arts Alive day Friday, June 3, at the school.
Started years ago, the year-end school event celebrates art, learning, community and life. The students have an opportunity to participate in workshops on a variety of subjects such as making bat houses, cake decorating, photography, tie dying, dancing, woodworking, slate etching and paper making.
Dover-Foxcroft hearing to focus on grant application to rehabilitate Central Hall
DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — A public hearing will be held on a state grant request for funds to help rehabilitate Central Hall and develop a walking trail along the Piscataquis River, at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 13, at Morton Avenue Municipal building in Dover-Foxcroft.
The public is being asked to attend the meeting to show support for the Dover-Foxcroft Historical Society, which is behind both proposals. The grant request is through the Communities for Maine’s Future Bond Program. The funds would help rehabilitate the historic hall and develop a pedestrian walking trail along the river at the site of the former Mayo Woolen Mill-Moosehead Manufacturing plant.
