SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Authorities say two men were injured after a small plane crashed in Scarborough.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jim Peters said the aircraft crashed Friday around 6:30 p.m. He said the men’s injuries were not life threatening.
Fire Chief Michael Thurlow told The Portland Press Herald the single-engine experimental plane crashed nose first, after getting about 100 feet off the ground. A spokesman for Bayley’s Camping Resort said the plane crashed at a landing strip on a plot of land nearby.
Thurlow identified the two men as 63-year-old Perry Fielding and 40-year-old Jeffrey Greenleaf, both of Scarborough. A nurse supervisor at Maine Medical Center said Fielding was in serious condition and Greeleaf was in fair condition.
