OLD TOWN and MILLINOCKET – Ronald J. Fraser Sr., 75, died peacefully Aug. 15, 2011, with his family by his side at his residence. He was born Feb. 13, 1936, in Old Town, a son of Charles J. and Juliette R. (Boucher) Fraser.

Ron proudly served his country as a Marine from 1954 to 1957. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed spending more than 45 years fishing West Grand. He wintered the last 20 years in Texas where he was a state champion shuffleboard player. He also spent five summers in Alaska where he fished for King Salmon. He was employed at Sears for many years as an electronics technician. After his retirement from Sears, he and his wife, Juanita, owned and operated “Ronita’s” Seafood takeout restaurant in Enfield for 20 years before finally retiring for good in 2008. He was a dedicated family man and enjoyed all the special family times and get-togethers. He also had wonderful friends whom he cared for greatly. He loved his many poodles throughout the years, especially his most recent, Coco Puff, who never left his side.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Juanita; three children, Debbie Gibbs and her husband, Charlie, of Alton, Kathy Bulley and her husband, Neal, of Millinocket, and Ronald Fraser Jr. of Alton; five grandchildren, Steven Gibbs of Old Town, Mark White and his wife, Janalynn, of Norridgewock, Michelle Fraser and her significant other, Frank Tringale, of Biddeford, Mellisa Fraser and her significant other, Dan Bernadini, of Old Town, and Joshua Fraser of Alton; two great-grandchildren, Dante Crenshaw and Olivia White; one sister, Sylvia Weatherbee; and two brothers, Jerry Fraser and his wife, Nellie, of Connecticut, and Phillip “Butch” Fraser and his wife, Beverly, of California. He was predeceased by three granddaughters, Erica Gibbs, Heather White and Roxannie Fraser; a daughter-in-law, Adelaida “Nida” Fraser; sister, Gloria White; and a brother, Danny Fraser.

A service with military honors will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. Interment will be at a later date at Alton Cemetery. Immediately after the service, all are invited to the Holy Family Parish Hall for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
