BANGOR, Maine — Police were called to a downtown Bangor building after being alerted of a problem by a man’s mental health case worker Friday morning.

“When the officers arrived, they were threatened with a knife by the man who retreated into his apartment,” Sgt. Paul Edwards said.

Members of the department’s special response team arrived just after noon to assist.

John Dunn, 60, was taken into custody at around 1:30 p.m. and taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for an evaluation.

He was charged with felony criminal threatening with a knife.
