EASTPORT – Paul John Weber, 92, passed away Oct. 8, 2011, at Eastport Memorial Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 28, 1918, in Ottoville, Ohio, the son of Ferdinand and Adeline Weber.

Having grown up during the Depression with the family moving often, Paul was a seminarian at St. Joseph’s College, Renssalear, Ind., when the death of his father caused him to return home to help support his family. In 1941 in Lima, Ohio, he began a 42-year career as a marketing engineer with Westinghouse Corp. specializing in aircraft components and later in airport security systems. In 1944 he married Angela Mae Meyer, a young, fun-loving secretary at Westinghouse, and they embarked on a happy life together, eventually having six children. A bridge master, Paul loved reading, history, mathematics, politics, card games with friends and family, ballroom dancing with his wife, and especially golf. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Elks. Although traveling extensively in his work, he managed his operations mainly in Ohio, northern Virginia and lastly, Baltimore. Two years after Angela’s death – his wife of 37 years – Paul retired. In 1983 Paul married artist Joyce Tulis of Columbia, Md., and moved to Eastport. They restored and operated Milliken House as a bed and breakfast in Eastport for many years, as well as establishing an art framing business. Paul was active in local civic, business, church and social affairs. He served as treasurer and senior warden at Christ Episcopal Church. He never lost his love of cards, having a regular poker night with his friends. Throughout his life, Paul was valued as a faithful and loving husband, a doting father and grandfather, patriarch to a large family, and a loyal friend – known for his principles and fun to be around. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents and wife, Angela, Paul was predeceased by infant daughter, Judith; and siblings, Raymond, Orville, Cletus, Doris and Jerald. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce of Eastport; a brother, Sylvester and wife, Annamae, of Claremont, Calif.; sons, David and wife, Deane, of Chesapeake, Va., Donald and wife, Nong Yow, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Douglas and wife, Elaine, of Hayes, Va.; daughters, Patricia of Atlanta and Janice, wife of the late Charles Hall, of Centreville, Va.; stepdaughter, Kristin Edwards of Atlanta; stepsons, Clay Tulis of Portland and Ewan Tulis of Ellicott City, Md.; a special extended family daughter, Marlene Mitchell and husband, Michael, of Silverdale, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Paul’s family expresses their profound appreciation to the staff of Eastport Memorial Nursing Home for their long and loving care at the end of his life.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Christ Church, Key Street, Eastport. Donations in his memory may be made to Eastport Memorial Nursing Home.
