CARIBOU – Geneva M. Flannery, 77, died Nov. 3, 2011, in Caribou. She was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Caribou, daughter of John and Laura (Corey) McGlinn.
Geneva graduated from Presque Isle High School, class of 1951, and worked at Cary Medical Center in the housekeeping department for a number of years until her retirement. She was a loving and devoted mother and a great friend to many.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Messier of Waterville and Ronda Burns and her husband, John, of West Boylston, Mass.; three sons, Richard Flannery Jr. of Caribou, David Flannery and his wife, Dina, of Dedham, Mass., and Robert Flannery of Provincetown, Mass.; one grandson, Dylan Flannery and his wife, Cara, of Newport; one granddaughter, McKenzie Flannery of Smyrna; three sisters, Evelyn Rutherford of Van Buren, Norma O’Reilly and her husband, Charles, of South Portland and Joan Carrier and her husband, Sidney, of Charleston, S.C.; two brothers, Dale McGlinn and his wife, Martha, of Caribou and Carl McGlinn, also of Caribou; one sister-in-law, Amy McGlinn of Presque Isle; the father of her children, Richard Flannery of Caribou; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, James, Philip and Nason McGlinn; and a son-in-law, Dennis Messier.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, from the chapel of Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Spring interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the Jefferson Cary Foundation, P.O. Box 89, Caribou, ME 04736.
