BUCKSPORT, Maine — Local voters re-elected four individuals to the Town Council and RSU committee on Tuesday and approved an ordinance altering the timeline for when town officials must complete work on the annual budget.

Michael Ormsby and Jeffrey Robinson Sr. both won re-election to additional three-year terms on the Town Council in a race that had no other candidates. Robinson received 1,098 votes while Ormsby received 986, according to unofficial results provided by town officials Tuesday night.

Likewise, Thomas Foster and Melinda Stegner were re-elected to represent Bucksport on the RSU 25 committee, receiving 1,062 votes and 1,020 votes, respectively. There were no other contenders in the school committee race.

Town voters also strongly endorsed giving the town manager and Town Council a few more weeks to complete work on an annual budget. The changes passed by a vote of 921-258, according to unofficial results.

Under the revised timeline, the manager and council members will have until mid-June to complete the next year’s spending plan. Town officials had said moving the deadlines back several weeks would better align Buckport’s budget process with RSU 25’s as well as with the Legislature’s development of a state budget, both of which have ramifications on town spending.
