NORRIDGEWOCK, Maine — A North Anson woman is dead after the car she was driving left U.S. Route 201A in Norridgewock and went into an embankment, police said Friday.
Louise Wyman, 87, died at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Lt. Carl Gottardi of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
Wyman was the lone occupant of the vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, according to Gottardi. She was traveling westbound when her car left the road and struck the embankment.
Gottardi said the blinding sun was a major factor in the crash, as a witness who was traveling behind Wyman also was blinded by the sun at the same time.
Wyman’s vehicle was totaled in the crash, and she was taken by ambulance to Redington-Fairview Hospital in Skowhegan before being airlifted to EMMC, where she later died of her injuries.
The accident remains under investigation, which is being led by Deputy Wilfred Dodge, Gottardi said.

To be fair, this is Maine. Sometimes there is only ONE way to get from point A to point B (within reason). Maybe she had no choice.
I did not mean that this dear lady had a choice I only said I all most had an accident the sun blinded me and yes it can happen to any, if this has never happen to you, how starange
Tragic.
The Maine DOT should look into preventing sunblindness.
It could prevent a crash.
government is not the answer,as obama wants you to think.this is very unfortunate, b ut is just happened to be that time of the day. there are so many times, and places this can happen at any moment. so should the gvt. tell the sun when and where to shine?heck, sure why not?! your precious gvt and obama are the answer to everything. after all, Obama, did say if elected, he would stop the oceans from rising any further. and , yes that jerk did say that., but has he fulfileed that?
