BANGOR, Maine — Four transients who were fighting at the Hope House on Monday evening were asked to leave and all eventually were arrested for trespassing, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Tuesday.

Police first went to the Hope House, a shelter for people struggling with drugs and alcohol, around 6 p.m. and found Jason Brown, 38, Maria Pounds, 39, Brian Brewer, 51, and Cassandra MacDonald, 41, fighting and being disorderly, the sergeant said.

All were asked to leave and given criminal trespass warnings. Brown refused and was arrested, Edwards said.

Police were called back to the Hope House around 11:15 p.m. and found Pounds, Brewer and MacDonald and arrested all three for trespassing, the sergeant said.

All four transients were taken to the Penobscot County Jail and remained behind bars on Tuesday, a jail official said.

  1. BDN writers…please I’m begging. Synonyms for transient are as follows; brief, deciduous, ephemeral, evanescent, flash, fleeting, fugacious, fugitive, impermanent,passing,short-lived,temporary, or transitory. Use one, give it  a shot, just once.

  2.   Re another news story in todays paper, Threat with a gun bail $1060. Now trespassing, held in jail. Am I crazy (don’t ans that) or is there something wrong with the system?

  3. Hmmmm Hope House + Drugs + Money + Fighting = a notorious drug dealer named Hippie. A short fused transient that drug deals all over town. Some people that worked at the Hope house once told friends of mine that he was a problem there in the past. A skinny dude that has dreadlock hair, braided goatee, and has a lot of facial piercings, with a short fuse. Funny that someone so sketchy and uptight calls himself Hippie. ha ha I don’t know what his real name is but I bet he was involved somehow.
