Howie Carr?
Thats an “Infamous” face!
You had one on there as a Marcus Davis from Houlton and the funny thing is I know many people who are lifelong Houlton Residents and they have no idea who he is. One friend told me she asked a family named Davis who it was thinking it was there relative and they didn’t know either. I myself grew up in the Houlton area and it doesn’t ring a bell to me. That name has really drawn up curiousity.
Marcus was born in Houlton. His parents moved to the Bangor area when he was real young. They are related to the Walter Davis Trucking Family which was once where Sloats Machine Shop on Bangor Street is. His Uncle was a local boxer, in the 60’s era…..Pal “Thunderbird” Davis…Fighting is in his genes!
Pal Davis owned and ran Pals House of Billards in Houlton in the late 60s–and he was a boxer. Although by then he was mostly retired from the ring, I attended a boxing night at Ricker College and saw him fight a guy from Woodstock, NB–the canadian, who was much younger and in better shape, won the bout on points.
Marcus Davis? Isnt he a MMA type fighter from Bangor or Brewer
Did Kevin Eastman get mentioned in either article? He lived in Standish, his dad still does, went to Westbrook Vocational, and went on to create The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Gee BDN – couldn’t you find any more right-wing nuts to mention? Tom Selleck, Steven Hadley, Howie Carr? Totally understandable why you would have forgotten each of them.
BDN didn’t include them, they came as “reader contributions.” Glad to know there are some right wing-nuts with memories, it’d be a sad day if we were all wrong wing-nuts and forgetful.
And, I thought Maine was part of America, land of the free–home of the brave. I guess that includes even those who cannot fathom a different philosophy regarding the role of government. It is too bad that those who require so much government intrusion in their lives cannot respect those of us who can and do think for themselves like Tom Selleck. Bangorian your ignorance is showing yet again.
How about Katie Aselton who currently stars in the FX series The League? She was born in Millbridge and was Miss Maine Teen USA.
Ugh, the pelletiers. I can’t think of a worse depiction of so called ” Mainer’s”. They should’ve called the show Canucks in Maine. Or something? These guys barely speak the language! No shame.
You like the Kardashians.
I’m sorry, I’ve never watched the show. But I have to say that many people in Maine “barely speak the language,” which I assume is English. There are vast parts of this state with a proud Franco heritage, with many people who speak with a French accent because they are fluently bilingual, and often speak French. There’s nothing wrong with this, and I, personally, consider it an asset rather than something to be ashamed about. And yes, I am a proud native of the St. John Valley, with family that goes back generations in the area. And I did have a French accent growing up – at least until I spent 20 years away.
To echo Matt’s perspective, the Pelletiers are among many proud Acadians that, along with being multilingual, were born and raised in this great state. You mention “the language”, how many languages do YOU speak? Too bad you were too ashamed to put your real name. Guess you knew your comment was ignorant. Own up!
