MAINE vs. ALBANY
Time, site: 2 p.m. Saturday, Alfond Arena, Orono
Records: Maine 3-13 (0-3 America East), Albany 10-7 (4-0)
Series, last meeting: Maine leads 16-7, Albany 66-60 on 2/26/11
Key players: Maine — 5-9 G Ashleigh Roberts (8.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg), 6-3 F Samantha Baranowski (7.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg), 5-7 G Brittany Williams (7.9 ppg, 1.6 apg), 6-1 F Danielle Walczak (4.2 ppg, 4.1 rpg), 5-6 G Courtney Anderson (5.4 ppg, 2.8 apg); Albany — 5-10 G/F Ebone Henry (14.5 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 2.6 spg), 5-7 G Cassandra Callaway (11.4 ppg, 3.0 apg), 6-0 F Julie Forster (9.1 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 2.3 spg, 1.1 bpg), 5-6 G Lindsey Lowrie (6.6 ppg), 5-7 G Adrienne Jones (5.1 ppg)
Outlook: The Black Bears will try to snap a 10-game losing streak when they face the surging Great Danes. UMaine mustered a season-low in points in Wednesday’s 75-34 loss at Boston University. The Bears face an Albany squad that has allowed an AE-low 53.4 ppg on 38 percent shooting. UMaine ranks eighth in AE scoring (53.7 ppg), which has been hampered by 21.5 turnovers per ballgame. That could be an issue against Albany, which has averaged 11.2 steals while causing 20-plus turnovers. On a positive note, UMaine has rebounded well (plus-1.5). It will need to against the Great Danes, who use their quickness to get frequent offensive rebounds. The Bears are expected to be without senior Sam Wheeler, junior Amber Smith and freshman Becca Knight of Alfred due to injury or illness.

The women will be lucky to score 30, and u can turn them over because they are done. As for the men, well, it’s just a matter of how many shots from Teaserland will Albany make before Woodward makes an adjustment.
I wonder if he realizes that the only reason he received that 3 yr extension is because of Leichner & Edwards???
WBB has 13 conf titles in 36 seasons, while the men have A BIG FAT Goose egg in 91 (soon to be 92) seasons, which is the WORST in the country.
No wonder Woodward received a 3 yr extension, because there’s no one who wants to follow him, trust me.
Gee Nostrajimus? Who was involved in 4 of those conf titles? Cant imagine how much money the university made them 4yrs can you? 5000 plus fans, plus her own clothing line lots of money for them wouldnt you say…But you couldnt say anything good, you only now how to be negitive about everyone on here. Going to the game today? will they let you out long enough to attend a game?
can’t make it this weekend, but maybe in 2 weeks Dana. Blodgett did make the school some money, and was a legend when she played. Too bad went out the way she did.
Now she is at URI, who is 1-16. Looks like she has rubbed off on them as well. Blodgett coached teams are 5-40 over the past season & a half. Maybe she can trade in her old clothing line for that massage table career she used to run. ;) :) :)
5000 fans down to 500. And that is all because of Blodgett, as she had the worst record last season of any AE team EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
see how foolish you are as a person, the attendance was nothing before she came to maine….and as far as uri she didnt recuit a single person isnt that what u are saying about barron and his team?? I now who u are friends with and giving u all this b.s. your saying on here…Guess what get a life u hate any one on here thats says anything that u dont approve of..ur a fool!!
i read you think the pit is the place to play basketball,OMG you dont get out much do you? The pit is a dump, the alfond is beautiful umo couldnt even host a playoff if they had a chance to who would want to travel way up here and play in a dump.. but u keep hoping for the pit ha!!!!!!!!
