PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police say they have figured out what happened to the OccupyMaine signs that disappeared from the group’s encampment in the city.
As many as 40 signs were reported missing from the encampment at Lincoln Park last weekend. Deputy Chief Mike Sauschuck said Thursday it turns out that they were removed by an Occupy member.
A Portland Occupy member who is not being identified told police he removed the signs with intentions of helping to clean up the park.
Apparently other Occupy members weren’t aware of that and reported the signs missing.
Sauschuck says no one has been arrested or charged. Police gave the name of the person who took down the signs to Occupy’s attorney so a decision can be made whether to pursue charges or drop the case.

Do we see a pattern here?
Tent set on fire, ocCUpiers blame anti-ocCUpy people. Truth that fire was set by ocCUpier.
Stolen signs, ocCUpiers blame ani-ocCUpy people. Truth is they took their own signs.
Truth is you don’t have a clue what you are talking about… Truth, schmuth… it’s all the same to you…
Well I quess any accusations of occupy Portland being an “Organised “astro turf campaign has been discredited.
Apparently the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing! You can’t make stuff up better than this one.
Wandini…
Exactly! Though since it was Occupiers, it was more like the left hand didn’t know what the other left hand was doing.
*Note to Jim Olson…
Why would I give my email to someone who is an Occupy fanboy? You obviously could care less about law. You’d probably end up spamming me with some Occupier/Socialist/Communist drivel. OccupyMaine, and the Occupy movement and its illegal tactics are a bigger joke than Obama’s Peace Prize! I choose who I am interested in communicating with, and have no interest in Occupy slime!
dude, don’t take my signs man i just made them.
these folks are the gift that just keeps on giving.
They really ARE changing the world!
BDN is there a reason all my comments from all the articles are being removed?
BDN protects the occupiers, so your comment, like mine which was the most liked and was also taken down, must have scraped a little too close to home.
They have the right to I guess, its their show. All I did was make a Forest Gump reference.
Mine is gone also.
All I can say is lol
Or .. with friends like that who needs enemies lol
The police gave the name of the guy who cleaned up the park to the occupiers laywer to see if charges would be filed? If this leftist is in charge of the DA’s office in portland that would explain a lot. I haven’t seen a overhyped media driven movement fail this badly since Baldy’s Dirigo fiasco.
Remember the 60’s protest, People like Bill and Hillary Clintone partook!!!! The same people who wanted a free America are trying to take away your rights today,, Say no to PIPA+SOPA
The Portland police officer was told by the thief that he was a member of Occupy. He was not. The acting police chief did not indicate that distinction, giving, in effect, false information… I’m shocked, shocked, that the police might give the media false information…
The fellow “identified” himself as an occupier member when stopped in the middle of the night by an officer. He was not a member. Comments by police have been, shall we say, confused?
