WINDHAM, MaineA 10-year-old Windham girl is in satisfactory condition at Maine Medical Center in Portland after she was injured in a hit-and-run crash on Albion Road on Friday afternoon.

Savanna Demmons was struck by a passenger-side mirror and pieces of the mirror covering were picked up at the scene, Sgt. James Boudreau of the Windham Police Department said in a release. The collision occurred near the intersection of Albion Road and Overlook Road.

After listening to Demmons and witnesses, police believe that the truck was a Chevrolet with a red Boss-brand V-shaped plow. The truck was described as having a silver ladder rack behind the cab and at the rear of the bed. It was last seen heading towards Roosevelt Trail.

Windham Rescue took Demmons to Maine Medical Center after the crash, which was reported at 4:45 p.m., Boudreau said.

Anyone with information about the crash may call Officer Tricia Buck at 892-1919, extension 4423.

  1. Hoping for a quick recovery for Savanna! What an awful person to leave after knowingly hitting someone.

    1. I don’t know how you can draw the conclusion that he knowingly hit her. She is probably not much taller then the mirror, and with the noise of the truck and maybe a radio, I am not sure you would hear much. Hopefully the driver sees the story and comes forward. I would like to think not many people would not stop if they knew they hit someone, but I am an optimist!

      1. How would they be able to see the story and “come forward” if what you say is correct? If they “didn’t know” they hit her, they would not come forward.
