BANGOR, Maine — Six women, including one group with three local teenagers, attempted to walk out of Walmart in the last week without paying for items and were charged, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Monday.

“We had a bunch of shoplifters,” the sergeant said.

All six were charged with theft from the Stillwater Avenue store.

Chelsey Elston, 22, of Carmel arrived at the store alone on Thursday and around 1:30 p.m. attempted to steal three pieces of clothing worth $41, Edwards said.

The next day, around 12:30 p.m., Bangor residents Kaitlyn Mangles, 19, Caitlynn Beale and Katye Proper, both 18, used a backpack in an attempt to take food, jewelry and clothing worth $106, the sergeant said.

Then on Saturday, just before noon, Heather Kehr, 22, of Dedham and Laura Cote, 28, of Bangor were seen using a purse to conceal items including jewelry, Edwards said.

    1. Apparently someone at the BDN took a Nyquil instead of Dayquil this morning and they’re a bit slow on the spell check…

    2. Read the article about the truck being stolen, at the bottom it says the man was “changed” with another felony instead of “charged”

      1. This is the same BDN that used “loose” instead of “lose” and “ton” instead of “to” on the same page last week.Very sloppy.I can find mistakes in every issue.Outsourcing the proofreading to India?

  1. if they just turned thier determination to steal into determination to get a job they probably wouldn’t be where they are right now, but then again they wouldn’t get thier fifteen minutes of SHame either…. effin clowns

  2. Last time I looked up at their ceiling I noticed lots of camera domes. You can’t find a place to pick your nose or scratch whatever itches.

  3. Grammar 101 – come on.  While we are on the subject shouldn’t the word “with” be “of” in the first sentence? Just saying!

  4. Funny/sad  according to Facebook Kaitly is enrolled in Pre-law at Husson.  Maybe she will act as her own lawyer!  Caitlynn started a new relationship on the same day.  Good to know she didn’t let a little thing like getting arrested stop her fun.

    1. Caitlynn started a new relationship on the same day.
What do you think the food, jewelry and clothing were for, she had a hot date!

    2. Be careful–trolls will think you are “creepy” for looking on Facebook.  It is amazing what they put out there for the world to see, though, don’t you think?

  5. Walmart is an evil Capitalist Right Wing leaning organization. These modern day ¨¨ladyhoods¨ are just taking what our evil society full of GOP politicians has denied them all these years.
They arent responsible for thier actions. They had to steal to feed thier families and have items to pawn for cash. I work for my money and use my own cash to buy my food but that is besides the point.

It is not the fault of these poor women. Its the system!

    1. You’re turning breaking the law into a political debate?  Seriously?  Right is right and wrong is wrong.  Don’t steal.  I’ve heard it all.

      1. No, I am being extremely sarcastic with what I write. Im just making fun of the fact that someone will post exactly what I do and actually think it is the fault of the GOP or the Governor. That and the fact that Walmart enslaves people so they deserve to be stolen from.
        You mistake my true meaning.

        1. Gotcha……..thanks for the clarification! You never know with some of the comments on here! Have a great night!

        2. ChinaMart doesn’t “enslave” people. It would cost them twice as much to own their employees as it does to under employ them and let the tax payers make up the difference.

          1. That’s the funnest thing I have read in a while.  Its sad though your words carry so much truth.

        3. Yes I saw this on a former friends facebook.  Admitted to stealing boots from a “Big Corporation” just to “show them.”  Sad state of affairs we are living in.

    2. What ever happened to their code of ethics, taken responsiblity for their actions. Stealing is wrong. There are plenty of agenices out there that help families in need. You don’t need to go out and steal and than have to pay a heavy fine and drag your family deeper into despair…..Go see your pastor, and congregation…..they will help….don’t degrade yourself….reach out….you just need to reach out….

      1. Obviously I did a poor job of trying to be sarcastic. I was tongue in check providing a phony reason why these ladies have to steal and how it is really not thier fault. I did put the comment that I work for my money and food in there but perhaps the meaing of that got lost as well.
My own personal beliefs are the same as yours.

  6. When are thieves going to start believing that Santa sees everything, God sees everything, and surveillance cameras see everything? Even if you don’t believe in God or Santa, you can’t deny the all seeing eye of the camera will catch up with you.
