VEAZIE, Maine — A report of a local man damaging a mobile home led to the arrest of a woman Tuesday when police said they discovered she had assaulted the man.
Just after 1 p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to a local mobile home park, and when Chief Mark Leonard arrived, he said he discovered Katie McCarthy, 27, had assaulted Joseph Richards, 26.
Both parties are from Veazie, Leonard said.
Leonard said one hole had been kicked in the wall at the home, knocking a mirror off the wall.
Richards suffered lacerations on his face and a bump on his head but did not require medical attention, according to Leonard.
Richards was issued a summons for criminal mischief but was not arrested. McCarthy was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and charged with domestic violence assault, a Class D misdemeanor. Orono police Officer Christopher Watson assisted at the scene.

Ya about time the woman got charged. Maybe the police are starting to wake up and try to sort out the truth before they make an arrest .
Women are also charged with DVA when appropriate- it is a fallacy that they are not. The sad thing is that both men & women get a slap on the wrist in this state. The laws need to be more strict- & be enforced.
Just saying woman hit men much more than men hit woman . (Not talking about serious injuries) Men get charged much more than woman. I have been slapped by woman many times. If a man dose it he goes to jail.
It kinda sucks that if you do something stupid you’ll be all over the Bangor Daily News. Next time if somebody farts in walmart they’ll probably be in the paper.

Impossible, Women are the weaker sex, How can this be????? They will probably arrest him tomorrow for being a man!!!!! There is a law that states if a man tries to resists being beaten by a women by grabbing her arm just to prevent her from assulting him, he is guilty of assult… They should let her go because it has to be a mistake.. unless of course he refused to buy her new shoes, then she should be rewarded.
Well Dave. 90% of the time it is the man that is the primary aggressor. But there are cases where all a dude can do is put his hands in his pockets and get slapped senseless. I was raised to never put a hand on a woman, and I never have. But that doesn’t mean women can take advantage of that and assault their partner. But this sounds like trailer park drama, so more than likely they were stressed to the max. I know we all like to say “Well, they live in a trailer park so they must be trash” But we wouldn’t wanna walk in their shoes. All I have to say is that, I think its pretty embarrassing for one fight that the whole state of Maine has access to one “Disturbance” that some actual human beings just like you and me have to let everybody know their business by Bangor Daily News and any other affiliates. Their family and friends will have to deal with this in their place of work or school. I guess the point is… if u get in an argument and the police are called. The whole state of Maine might be able to hear about it.

I found this stat on pbs.com and a few other sites as well. However, note that this does not include emotional abuse (threatening to take kids, name calling, etc…) just physical abuse. Emotional abuse stats that I could find were consistant around the 50/50 range.
right…i knew someone would put some stats. from a website…but you still don’t get it… you can’t PROVE who was the primary aggressor…because you weren’t there when the incident’s happened…it’s always he said, she said…..and the officers can only take their best guess based on what they’re told and what they see…as to who was the primary aggressor…so again…you cannot PROVE those stats.
Visible marks don’t PROVE it? And if the woman has the marks are you making a statement that they may deserve it? Just curious…cause nobody deserves that.
