FREEDOM, Maine — A man was arrested and charged with two counts of domestic violence assault this week after allegedly attacking both his wife and 7-year-old stepdaughter.

Jarred Regimbal, 24, of Freedom is accused of punching his wife and kicking her in the face Tuesday afternoon during an argument, according to Lt. Jason Trundy of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

When the girl tried to call 911 for help, Regimbal reportedly assaulted her, too, in an effort to stop her from making the phone call, according to Trundy.

The wife left the home to call police and told a dispatcher that there had been a domestic fight. Sgt. Jim Greeley responded to the call and spoke with Regimbal at his home without getting “much of a story,” Trundy said.

However, the sergeant did speak to the woman, who reported details about the assaults.

“When confronted with that, he admitted to Sgt. Greeley that’s what happened,” Trundy said.

Regimbal was taken to Waldo County Jail in Belfast, and he was released on Wednesday after posting $300 cash bail.

    1. Yes, Pab. It takes a real MAN to kick a woman in the face and with her little girl watching. And then attack the girl ’cause he doesn’t want to get busted?  What a lowlife! What a MAN!  cha!
This is where a real lynch mob is needed; I’ll supply the rope!

  1. To say it like it is,  any person who assaults his family should be put in a cage so he can contemplate his ignorant/abusive behavior.  I wonder if a mind altering substance was involved?

  2. The screwy part is – 1 The wife will bail him out, 2- She will let him back into the house, 3-She will tell the law she does not want to press charges, 4-and he will do it again! In my world, if you beat a woman and a child, you should die! Just saying!

  3. there are some things bail should not be granted for by a bailsman this is one of them, it should go before a judge after a psych evaluation.

  4. They are just waiting for him to kill one of them. They seem to like giving them jail time after its too late.

  5. It will take some time and money to reunite the “family” but, unfortunately ………that will be the outcome.

  6. haven’t heard the last of this couple, next time it might be worse..should keep him in the slammer…

    1. Where is the young girls father? Where are the uncles? You can’t tell me that no one cares about this little girl. Speed with your kid in the car and the police notify d.h.s., but actually hurt one and nothing is done.

  7. This isn’t her fault so to call her stupid isn’t helpful or appropriate. The fact is, most guys who do this sort of thing can be kind and charming when they want to be.

Good job going to the police! Hopefully they can help you keep yourself and your daughter safe.

    1.  There’s always a warning.  If this is her first, which I doubt, then she will be stupid if she lets him back in to her home.  Let’s hope she has the strength to turn him out for good.

  8. I have a feeling that fellow residents of freedom might be keeping an eye on this one.maybe invite him out for a fishing trip….

  9. Yet ANOTHER Waldo County arrest. I would like to see their monthly count of arrests this month. This guy hit his wife did whatever to his stepdaughter and he had a $300 bail and then he goes home to do it again right?

  10. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE is getting so out of control in this state.  Time to keep these violent people in jail where they belong.  They go from victim to victim.  Then they try to make people feel sorry for them when they get caught.   Hey, Gov. LePage, you want to make changes – do something about these crimes.

  11. Physical abuse is usually preceeded by the preperation of verbal demeaning and degredation. The abuser usually has their victim/s mentally beaten down before they ever lay a hand on them. It takes a pretty horrific act before the victims can snap out of it. They need your support to bring them back from the abyss of being victimized.

  12. Maybe things are not as bad as they seem. Maybe the girl’s real father bailed him out? You know , take a long walk out in the woods together and “talk” about hitting his kid.
