AUGUSTA, Maine — The operator of an all-terrain vehicle that broke through the ice and sank in the Kennebec River in Gardiner last week is facing charges because the ATV had been reported stolen.
Raymond Cray was driving one of two ATVs that sank late at night on Feb. 14.
Cray and his passenger, Mike Elliot, were able to get to shore on their own. A third man, Brett Ellis, was riding a separate ATV and had to be pulled from the water by Gardiner fire and rescue personnel.
The Kennebec Journal reports that a check of the vehicle identification number of the ATV operated by the 22-year-old Cray showed that it had been stolen.
He appeared in court on Wednesday on a charge of receiving stolen property. He was released on $500 bail.

Thats KARMA ! when u steal something and you almost die using said stolen atv, think yourself lucky junior and learn from your mistake ! Even if you didnt steal it, be smart enough to ask questions before using stolen property !
