BANGOR, Maine — A woman who is no stranger to police was behind bars again Thursday, this time for violating her bail conditions, Sgt. Paul Edwards said.

Ashley Steward, 28, is prohibited from consuming or possessing alcohol as part of her bail, the sergeant said.

Police were dispatched to Steward’s Ohio Street residence late Wednesday after a man claimed she had stolen an undisclosed item from him.

While Steward didn’t steal anything, according to Edwards, police smelled alcohol on her breath and took her to the station for a breathalyzer test, which confirmed she had been drinking. She was arrested and charged with violating her conditions of release and taken to Penobscot County Jail.

Steward has a criminal record, according to Bangor Daily News archives. On Feb. 9, she was arrested for disorderly conduct after an argument with her boyfriend escalated to her yelling and swearing at police.

Steward’s rap sheet also includes an assault conviction in Washington County in 2011 and a burglary conviction in 2007 along with convictions for disorderly conduct, refusing to submit to arrest, violating conditions of release, operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license and theft.

    1. I like the “American Dad”  with the news paper front page that read;

      HUGE HEADLINE!!

      smaller print to follow.

    2. This woman must have really offended the police by calling them names and yelling at them for them to check in on her and bring her in for drinking.  I remember telling the cops about my own kid’s drug comsumption, and they told me there wasnt enough there to even bring im in, yet this woman gets busted for having a beer?  Wow, must be a slow day in Maine Justice and an even slower day for Maine NEWS!!!!

    1. Slide your EBT?   LOL… and, to think there are so many out there who don’t believe the EBT can be used in so many unlawful ways!

  2. It would be easier if you just run a daily list  of those who violated bail conditions.  Again, what is the point of bail conditions – they never follow them.

    1. Or for a happier story and shorter list, they could run the names of people that didn’t violate their bail. It could be called “The Gold Stars”.
