BELFAST, Maine — A snowstorm Thursday has closed the Waldo County courthouses and delayed the first court appearance of accused murderer Daniel Porter of Bangor.
Porter, 24, will appear at 9 a.m. Friday morning at Waldo County Superior Court in Belfast, according to an official at the Maine Attorney General’s Office.
Police believe that Porter killed Jerry Perdomo, a 31-year-old firefighter from Florida who had been missing for two weeks.
The search for Perdomo ended Wednesday when a Maine game warden and his dog found his body in the woods off Dahlia Farm Road in Newburgh.
According to a state police affidavit released Wednesday, Porter told police that Perdomo was dead. He said he knew where the body and the gun used to kill him were hidden, but refused to tell police that information.
Police have said that the case is a drug-related homicide. Porter told investigators that he owed Perdomo $3,000, according to the affidavit. State police officials said at a Wednesday press conference that they were looking into whether or not the murder was related to diverted prescription drugs.

I would be willing to bet that about half the people from Florida who read this headline are going to say, “who the heck is this Snow fella?”
Sounds like other people should be appearing in court besides Dan Porter…..
In addition to Dan Porter — not besides, I’d say…after all he did kill a man, hide the body and take off out of state. Sounds like they both were involved in drugs — one killed the other now the killer will face his due. Probably more arrests will come.
What did Nowak and his father know and when did they know it?
Exactly!!!!
A sad case all the way around.
florida drug dealer
My question is, wouldn’t you think Porter would have needed help to move the body? Perdomo was a very tall and 200 lb man. Porter doesn’t look like he would be able to move such a large man.
This has bothered me since the beginning. Why do they have to keep saying firefighter?Did that make it worse because he was a firefighter? If the guy was a mill worker and was missing ,they wouldn’t keep saying missing mill worker?I Don’t see what his occupation has anything to do with it….
Because when he was a missing firefighter we were all supposed to be more concerned for him. Now that he’s a dead drug dealing fire fighter we’re suddenly supposed to forget that he was a fire fighter.
I wonder how many Mainers OD from drugs brought up here from Florida
Once again the public “servants” can’t get to work like the public they’re supposed to serve does. What a joke. What are we paying these drones for anyway?
There is no Obituary in Florida, no comment from Jerry’s wife does she know he is dead, I suppose there is going to be a collection for the Funeral, as isn’t death by a crime not payable by life insurance, How did these guy’s get to know one another, through Nowak, or Lisa, or is there more druggies involved?
