ISLAND FALLS — Maine State Police are investigating a bank robbery at Katahdin Trust Co. in Island Falls.
Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety, said late Tuesday afternoon that a man robbed the bank, which is located on Crystal Road, shortly before noontime. The location is about 30 miles southwest of Houlton.

Troopers said no weapon was shown and only two bank tellers were in the building at the time. The robber, who McCausland said was dressed from head to toe in black, demanded money and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash in a blue bag that he had brought with him.

Troopers believe he had parked his getaway vehicle between two potato houses, a short distance away from the bank.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call state police in Houlton at 532-5400.
