HANCOCK, Maine — A rollover traffic accident Friday morning at the intersection of Route 1 and Washington Junction Road resulted in traffic being diverted temporarily but only a minor injury for the driver.

The driver, Dusten Phippen, 21, was turning right off Washington Junction Road onto Route 1 shortly after 10:30 a.m. when he lost control of the Ford Ranger pickup truck, causing it to roll onto its driver’s side. Deputy Larry Fickett of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department said Phippen told him the accident happened when the truck’s brakes malfunctioned. Fickett did not know the year the truck was made but said it was an older model.

Phippen was wearing a bandage on his left hand after the accident and appeared not to have suffered any other injuries. Fickett said Phippen was wearing a seat belt when the truck rolled. The deputy said he wasn’t sure what town Phippen lives in but he is a Hancock County resident.

Westbound traffic on Route 1 was diverted onto Washington Junction Road for about 30 minutes as firefighters and other response personnel cleaned up debris and removed the truck from the road.

      1. Yes, back in the 70’s. Then in the late 70’s/early 80’s they made that truck the F100, which was slightly bigger than the compact Ranger.  The compact sized Ranger started in 1983 I believe.  The truck in the picture is a late 80’s/early 90’s F-150.

    1. I beleive the caption states that the fireman is watching as the truck is being flipped back onto its wheels. Though it would have been an impressive feet of driving skill to “roll” a truck onto the edges of its tires.

    2.  You can see just the tail end of the flat bed truck in the right hand side of the pic that is winching it back onto it’s wheels.

Ummmmm, deputy….did you think to check his license? I believe you’d find that information there (now, “Whar’s mah bullet?”).

    1.  You would, provided he hasn’t moved since his license was issued. Mine doesn’t have the right address on it. I’ve corrected it at the BMV, but they didn’t issue me a new license, they just updated it in their computer.

      1. I agree, that could indeed be the case. However, if it were the case, it would be a matter of the deputy simply asking him where he lives (watches as the deputy slaps his forehead and says “DOOHHHH…now, why didn’t I think of that?”).

  2. Just getting some practice in for when the

From the looks of it, he’s pretty well on his way to an exciting summer job.
