SCARBOROUGH, Maine — The son of a survivor of the Titanic’s sinking says his mother would be overwhelmed and baffled by all the attention the Titanic is getting 100 years after it went down in the North Atlantic.
Eighty-year-old Bradford Wellman of Scarborough told Maine Today Media that his mother, Mary Lines Wellman, didn’t dwell on the tragedy.
Bradford Wellman’s mother was 16 and living in Paris when she and her mother took the sea journey to attend her brother’s graduation from Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. She was never clear on how she learned that the Titanic had hit an iceberg and was sinking.
The Titanic Centennial Remembrance Committee and Maine Irish Heritage Center in Portland will hold a commemorative service, dinner and presentation April 14 to mark the anniversary of the disaster.

saw this morning on the news that they are having a reinactment of the Titanic Cruise, and that anyone who is a descendent of someone who was on the original, can go this time.
