BANGOR, Maine — Construction workers at Mary Snow School returned to work Monday morning to find some of their equipment missing, and the crime was one of nine burglaries reported over the weekend, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said Monday.

“That’s a lot for a weekend,” the sergeant said, adding it appears the break-ins are not connected. “There are a number of burglaries under investigation at a couple of businesses and residences.”

The first burglary was reported on Bolling Drive just before midnight Friday and Bangor responded to two reports of business burglaries Monday morning, Edwards said.

“This morning we went to a residence on Hillside Drive [with a home day care] and we’re working on one at Mary Snow School,” the sergeant said.

A thief or thieves broke into a construction trailer at the school, which is located on Broadway, but what was taken was not released.

Sunday “there was one at an apartment house on Third Street and on [Saturday] the 14th we had five,” Edwards said.

Homes on Essex, Lincoln, Green and Center streets and Mildred Avenue were hit on Saturday, the sergeant said.

The seven home burglaries were reported to police after the residents got home, and the business burglaries were reported when the businesses opened on Monday. The initial investigation indicates there is no connection among the crimes, Edwards said.

“Maybe it was one of those weekends,” he said.

  1. I bet if the Bangor Police hung around schools at night/weekends they would be pretty busy writing citations. I see it everyday @ Cohen MS. ie: Graffiti, Beer cans, break ins @ the athletic fields…etc.

  2. When they catch these people it will interesting to see if they’ve been involved with the court system at some point. I’d bet that they have done  some time and were let out to start all over again. We’ll see.

  3. huh….maybe it’s time to start thinking about putting security cameras into the school budget….or maybe that will get “cut out” as well…..we can’t win…

  4. Wish it’d say where the other seven burglaries were…
I notice more crime stories coming from the other side of the Kenduskeag.

  5. This has seriously gotta make you all sick.  We all read a story not long ago in this very paper of five young men and a young lady that were arrested for burglary of three stores in Glenburn, Carmel and Newburgh….and not much more than a week later, NINE burlaries.  All five of those young men are OUT of jail on the streets to create more havoc and steal from more hard working people.  Our so-called justice system just keeps letting this scum out to keep ripping us off, and they wonder why people all over are applying for weapons permits…Its disgusting to think that what you have worked your whole life for can be taken by some punk wanting to party it up with booze, smokes, drugs, and any cash they can get their hands on and the best our court system can do is arrest them, bail them out(keep in mind all five of them bailed out at 60.00 bucks…I know this for a fact) and let them do it all over again.  Restitution is a joke cause none of the punks work or can even pay the fines they are recieving.  Why in the world are they let back out before they go to court for the first burlaries?  Why arent the police keeping an eye on them, knowing they are just gonna do it again?  Why is it that the innocent people of this state have to continue to look over their shoulder and behind their backs?  Hey Lepage, Why dont you do something about this??
