WATERVILLE, Maine — Maine State Police divers seeking evidence in the disappearance of Ayla Reynolds have returned to the Kennebec River where some items were recovered two weeks ago.

State police spokesman Stephen McCausland says five divers and two detectives searched an overflow area Tuesday while water was lowered for maintenance on a dam owned by NextEra Energy Inc. He says several items were found and will be reviewed by the state police crime lab.

Divers were in the same area where other items were recovered two weeks ago. Those items were also taken to the crime lab.

McCausland said it’s not known whether any of the items are connected to the toddler’s disappearance in December. She was reported missing from her father’s home on Dec. 17.

  1. I hope they find something………this is ridiculous at this point.  Those involved evidently made a blood pact and aren’t talking.  Can’t wait to see someone in handcuffs involving this case.

  2. My hearts breaks every time I see the headlines about this precious doll.  I hope they find something that will lead them to her (or her killer(s)).  This has gone on too long.

  3. Unless Ayla was put  in someone’s custody,  it doesn’t look very promising for her.

The father, girlfriend, and sister don’t appear to be overly concerned about her…they seem to  only care about themselves.  But there doesn’t appear to be enough to arrest any of them.

Perhaps  this new evidence will point to the guilty party.  I truly hope that she is found staying with someone.   That certainly would be the best outcome one could hope for.

Mainerfirst: My first sentence said “Unless Ayla was put  in someone’s custody…” If she’s on “vacation,” she’s doing much better than she would under the care of these parental clowns.

    1. It will be nice to see them charge someone, but it would be best to see them charge them with something that sticks, not something they can weasel their way out of then never be able to charge them again.

      1.  It was highly suspected because of past injuries under her fathers care, including a broken arm (which was explained with a story which doesn’t pan out – he said it was raining and he slipped and fell on her, but the night he said that it happened, it was not raining).

        1. Remember DHS only goes out when someone, like the Doctor who treated the broken arm, makes a report of abuse or neglect

    2.  Charges have to stick and we’d all prefer to see some justice.  I want that affidavit to feel like someone dropped a hammer. It’s bad enough that Maine doesn’t offer the death penalty.

  4. The time of reckoning is at hand. If I was one of the 3 people in the house that night, I’d be singing like a diva to tell my story before the other 2 made a deal with the prosecutor. The first to talk gets the best deal. Time is running out on you. The clock is ticking….Tick. Tock. TickTtock. Speak up now and forget about being loyal to the one whose hands hurt that baby. Tick. Tock.

  5. I said this before and I’ll say it again, if I was the father of this little girl I never would have stopped walking both sides of the river banks. Dogs is what I would be using.

    1. and knocking on every door in the city, searching every square inch of land until i found her

  6. So those were her items that were found?  Prayers going out to Ayla’s mom and family. Justin start sweating boy, they will find her.

    1. -don’t believe they’d be searching again, after a lot of time having passed since the other searches, unless the evidence found IS related to the Reynolds case.

  7. Not looking at the right people…what about someone who may know one of the family members? Maybe someone who showed someone how to remove blood? Maybe someone that is at every vigil just watching maybe a ex-pedophile? Just a theory…

  8. Glad that this is happening, and State still continuing search. We do not want this to become a cold case. Thank you State Troopers, Wardens, and all everyone else that still working on this.

    1.  I haven’t seen any statements from the girlfriend. The sister finally
came out last week to defend herself and her family, spouting a bunch of b/s… surprise, suprise – the mother made
some statements in the beginning to CNN – which she had to retract
      because they were lies…

  9. Justin, Grammie (term being use lightly), Auntie (again sarcasm being used), the girlfriend and Lance should all be ashamed of themselve for any and all part that they have played in the disapperance of little Ayla.  I just wonder when Ayla actually spent her last night in that house of hell.  I would bet that she was gone before that night — they hatched this plan only after Trista started demanding to speak and see her daughter and Justin knew someone would come knocking at the door soon.  Time to give it up “family” tell where this little girl is.

    1.  I would have to go back and check all the stories, but I thought there was mention of people other than the occupants being there the evening before. They would have told the police whether or not they saw Ayla. The cops would be trying to find credible witnesses who saw her. That way they know how far back they have to check store security videos in the area.

      1. Supposedly, the same “dear friend” who sold Justin a LIP on Ayla, was also at the residence for a “playdate” the night before.  Convenient aye?

  10. It won’t be long now and what we’ve known all along will be confirmed. I wonder if they can feel their time running out?

  11. There are ways you can guarantee to get people to talk without causing permanant damage. Guaranteed. Man, this case is getting sadder and sadder every day that goes by.

  12. I’m wondering if the investigators have brought in someone not involved with the case. Just to see if they can find something that the people working on this case have missed??

    1.  At this point, that may not be a bad idea. Fresh eyes may see something that others may have missed.

  13. The police are not stopping and the walls are closing in. May the party or parties responsible for this little girl’s death be held accountable by the justice system and karma. Sleep well DiPietro clan.

  14. Please, people, stop referring to “her death”.  Ayla Reynolds has been declared missing, and until proven otherwise, let’s not speak of her being anything other than alive.

  15. They have found something of substance. I am seeing some charges on the horizon along with some people heading to the Graybar Motel for an extended stay. Hmmm I wonder who it will be?

  16. Why are the police dragging out the time after they have found something suspicious before looking again? [Divers in river]

  17. I just hope after this is finally done, the convicted will pay for the amount of money put into this case.

    1.  Money should have nothing to do with this! This is about a baby that deserves to be found at any cost.

      1. You completely missed the point of my post. So for those in attendance that like to make assumptions about what I said, let me set the record straight:
What my post indicates is (for those that have followed this story) we have 3 people who have been called out on this, their hand close to red at this point knowing what has happened since day 1, and all they can do is sit back and play the “I don’t know card” meanwhile tax dollars are being wasted by sending out search parties, divers to recover items, then in turn analyze them when this could simply be resolved by one of 3 adults saying “Detective, I know what happened to Ayla on the night she ‘disappeared'”

You’re welcome, apology accepted, have a nice day everyone.

  18. by the fact that they have returned to the river, maybe someone has sung…lets hope so that little girl need to be brought back home to the people who TRULY love her…the story stunk from the beginning, mother was going to file papers for custody the next day and the little girl just so happens to go missing that night….YEAH RIGHT ..God Bless Ayla

  19. Put all three of them in jail and let them out for 1 hour a day until they talk. I bet with in 2 or 3 days someone will sing everything. What about the mother she does not say anything. What up with that..

  20. to find a killer takes the police forever.but if you go 10 miles an hour over the speed limit your going to court .

  21. What happened to the other stuff they found a few weeks ago?? i know thats its great to get Aylas picture out and about so the public dont forget, but whats the point in posting something then not doing a follow up post, even if it is only to say, that items turned out to not be connected…Someone knows whats going on, keeping quite isnt going to help them in the long run, one way or another this case will come to close, hopefully it wont be 20 years down the line…im still praying that Ayla has been handed off to someone to take care of her!

    1. Police cannot release everything while there is an investigation going on. It could end up jeopordizing the case when an arrest is made and it goes to court.
