WINDSOR, Maine — Police in Maine say one woman and two men have been found dead after their Jeep became stuck in a bog in Windsor.

The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department told the Kennebec Journal that the three went four-wheeling and were last seen alive around 7 p.m. Friday. Their bodies were discovered Saturday evening. Their identities had not been released by Sunday afternoon.

The bodies were discovered in a Jeep about 300 yards from the road. Capt. Dan Davies of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department says a preliminary investigation suggests the group may have been overcome by carbon monoxide poisoning in the vehicle. The Jeep’s roof was on.

  1. Dear God, Please bless everyone effected by this tragedy, please give them strenght and hope. Thank you Father Amen.

  2. As an avid 4×4 enthusiast, my heart goes out to the families of these folks.

    This sucks.

  3. I can remember being told about CO constantly as a teenager in Aroostook. This would happen as people sat out in their cars, staying warm in the winter.  So so sad.

  4. When I first heard about this I thought it was drowned. I hate the fact that you can’t escape from your car if it has electric windows if your car is in water. Once your engine doesn’t work, neither does your electric windows. Windows are made to not break. I believe all vehicles must be made with a way to over-ride electric locks and roll down your window manually. It also appears that all vehicles should have a carbon monoxide alarm in them. Never know if someone terrorized your car without your knowledge, snow or mud. So sad. Prayers for all those affected.

    1.  I’ve heard (but wouldn’t take it to the bank) that if a car with electric windows becomes submerged, that you actually have several minutes with enough power to lower a window before the battery completely shorts out.  My truck has manual crank down windows and I’m fine with that.

      1. Hard to find today! I always look for a crank when buying new vehicles, but have given up. I also prefer standard shift, that is also rare to.

        1.  My engine doesn’t need to be running for the windows to work, just the key turned.  As matter of fact, after the engine is shut off and the key is removed, you have 30 seconds to put the windows up.  With my best friend’s car you can put all of the windows down with the remote, like if it’s a hot day, you can put them down as you approach the car (engine off) in a parking lot, to let out that initial burst of heat, so that the a/c can cool down the car faster.

      1. Everyone should keep a window punch in their glove box for this exact reason! You can buy them at galls.com!

        1. My mom used to give them out at christmas time. They’d have the window breaker, seatbelt cutter, and sometimes a light or an alarm. Handy little gadget if you can access it.

          1. I did at Christmas time. I just think that its a RECALL item on all cars! DUH! No brainer. Every little toy is a recall item for stupid reasons. We know that cars lock people into them, and you can’t get your window down. There should be a handle. What if a stupid parent, I’m sure its already happened. Locks a child into a car with the windows rolled up, and the car heats up, the child can’t roll down the window! One small safety handle is all it would take on just one window.

      2. That women on that 911 call on oprah, you could hear her talking. She told the dispatcher she had tried to roll her window down and she couldn’t get it down. Oprah was showing a device on television that everyone should have in their cars to break your window with, it would’ve saved the olympic swimmers life.

  5. Condolences to the families and friends of these 3 people. Tragic ending to what should have been a fun day.

  6. These were probably just good people out for some 4X4’ing and they are taken while all the child molesters you read about here continue to live.  Sometimes it just doesn’t make sense.
