BREWER, Maine — A complaint of loud noise at a Washington Street residence on Thursday night brought Brewer police to the area and, after smelling “freshly burnt marijuana,” one man at the residence was charged, Sgt. Arden Jones said Saturday.
The responding officer “collected three bags of marijuana and some pipes,” the sergeant said.
Kevin Herrick, 22, no address given, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, Jones said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

Yep, and if found guilty will pay a small fine and be done with it. Chances are, once he gets out of court, he’ll probably walk right next door and get a new pipe. Some punishment.

This is crazy, one more instance of wasted tax payers money over pot. I agree go to the house and ask them to tone it down but to start shaking down adults cause they smell weed is just going too far. Leave it alone already and focus on child abuse, sex offenders and the murderers that run amok.

Probably. Would you be ok being on the same plane if the pilot had ADHD and was on Amphetamines to treat his condition? Or if he had chronic pain and took Opiates? Whats your point? I fail to understand your logic. Maybe every chance he could was only once a week when he hung out with his buddies and watched the game? I dont see any problem in that. Besides, you can be assured that they drug test pilots, so your stance is flawed from the get go. I however would be perfectly fine letting some old bus driver who toked a bit a night drive my kids around. He’d be straight in the morning and chances are he’d be a really nice dude. Dont drive buses if you hate the world, really.

that would depend on how much alcohol he used the night before, been there done it there were many days in my younger years after partying the night before and waking up and goin to work I was still feeling the effects of the alchol the night before.

I would rather that he smoked a joint than got pi$$ drunk the night before. The weed is no longer effecting his faculties, where as if someone drinks enough, they can still be drunk in the morning.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police studied this and found that it is 5 times more dangerous to operated a vehicle while talking on a cell phone than operating after smoking cannabis. I do not suggest that people do this but it concerns me in the same way as I wonder if I’m eating enough green vegetables.

I have no problem if someone smokes weed on their time off from work as long as they are not using during work hours. I would much rather have someone that smoked weed the night before driving my kids to school vs being drunk the night before.

The bottom line is if you are doing something illegal don’t bring attention to yourself. The Officer was just enforcing the law. Pot is illegal ( I think it should be legalized) until the law is changed the officer was doing what he is paid to do enforce the laws of this state and country.

Just because Obama and Eric Holder are pro pot-head dosn’t make it legal. This story is about Just another pot-head costing the tax payers thier hard earned money.
I have worked with pot-head losers like this in the past and generaly I had to do my work and theirs too. Good work Brewer PD! I would suggest you check on him in a week or so to see if he has learned as leason if not lock him up again, and again.
“Pot head users” hahaha. You’d be surprised how many of your friends and neighbors use it recreationally – and still work 40 hours a week, own businesses, or hold master degrees.
One would hardly know where to begin with such a comment, but I would point out that you held the same job as the “pothead” and like Tom Sawyer “they” managed to have you do their share of the labor, which in my mind makes them smarter than you.
