WATERVILLE, Maine — The offer of a $30,000 reward for information leading to missing Maine toddler Ayla Reynolds is about to end Saturday, and police say it appears the money will go unclaimed.

Ayla was reported missing from her Waterville home on Dec. 17. State police spokesman Stephen McCausland says that since then, investigators have received 1,200 leads, including many from psychics.

Those tips and numerous searches haven’t led to Ayla, who was 20 months old when she disappeared.

Police said earlier this month they believe she’s dead. No one has been charged.

Waterville police say about 15 people held a candlelight prayer vigil Thursday night in front of Ayla’s home, whose front lawn remains marked by a growing collection of stuffed toys.

  1. I find it sad that those who put up this reward have put a time frame on it. If down the road someone who knows something grows a conscious, they may not come forward since there’s no reward involved.

I hope that there are answers soon. Her  mother needs to know where her baby girl is.

    1.  If someone knows something and grows a set down the road, they don’t deserve the reward money.

    2. Yes, her mother needs to know.  But I respectfully disagree on keeping the reward time-line open.  If someone knows something, they know it now.  They’re not going to ‘remember’ in 6 months and come forward if they haven’t already.  It’s possible the police suggested an end date on the reward.

Let’s hope this means someone will come forward asap.

    3. If someone has any conscious it shouldn’t take $30,000 to come forward!! I think it was nice of the people who put this up and I’m hoping someone does come forward!!!

    4. I can’t find the right words to describe the lowness of the person(s) who took this baby, but it’s a pathetic scummy thing that people think they need to be paid to be honest. That people have dropped to the level of  scum in the bottom of the pail before doing the right thing. I’d pop my own mother in the beak if she resorted to that type of lowness and if she didn’t do the same to me for being that way, I’d smack her for not popping me.

      1. I completely agree and believe that if someone actually did know that someone TOOK this little girl, that they would have come forward, for the money, if not for the common decency.  That is why i have little choice but to believe the little girl never left that house alive.

Yep all those leads, all those calls, and all that evidence taken, and yet still the three people responsible for this tragedy walk free.  Sad piece of police work to be honest with ya..but what do ya expect from Maine.

    1. Let me guess. The psychics all predicted she’ll be found somewhere by rail road tracks and water.

    2. Did you also read a lot of those leads were from physics? The truth will come with patience. No sense hurrying an arrest and taking the chance of an acquittal. Better to wait and take it to court with the strongest evidence prevalent.

    3. JeffCol > As much of an expert you seem to be, the police for some strange reason need proof and evidence to charge people for a crime, this is probably a good idea, as a lot of innocent people might get charged with a crime they did not commit. Strange way to run a legal system

      1. First off my name is Jeff.  I havent personally attacked you so please dont do it to me.  Second of all the police have said on a NUMBER of occasions that they believe Justin and the other two adults are holding information, and finally they tell us they have had 1200 leads, but dont tell us if any have gotten them closer or if they are all crap.  They tell us they have a ton of evidence, but dont arrest anyone.  Still a little girl is missing, blood is found from the little girl at the father’s home and another child in the same room is there and fine…so i dont believe i need to be an expert…just exhibit a little common sense….something you obviously fail to do.

        1. Jeff > I am sorry you took my statement to be an attack on you, however I stand by what I said, L.E , wants to make sure if they charge someone with a crime they will not walk away from that charge.

          1. No harm done.  Listen, i realize that at this point, the evidence is mostly circumstantial, but i would rather see them go forward with a circumstantial case the same way they did with Casey Anthony than allow this this guy to continue to enjoy his life each day as if nothing happened.  Maybe if he is charged, he will finally tell the truth.  One thing i do know is this, that if this case becomes a cold case, which it sure seems to be heading towards, we will never know what happened to this little girl.  I have a hard tme accepting that.

          2. Jeff > I realize that many people want to see something progress in this case including you and myself. The legal system sometimes work in a very slow and methtodical pace, however we need to understand , that if a person is charged with a crime, and is not convicted , they many times can not be charged again, therfore getting away  with whatever crime they have committed. Again I apologize for any misunderstanding with my post. We both want to see justice done, sometimes our emotions take over to cloud our feeling of the process.

    4. A little water boarding or other similar forms of interrogation will get answers in a hurry. Guaranteed.

  3. Whoever has information on what happened, now is the time to come forward.  You can relieve both your conscience and gain a reward.  Eventually you’re going to have to tell what you know because of your conscience anyway.  Why not get a reward too?

  4. Maybe someone involved knows and will tell on the others!! $30,000 will buy you a good lawyer!!!And put an end to this!!

  5. Everytime I hear about Ayla Reynolds, I look at my children and just can’t imagine having to endure something like this.  I don’t know if I would handle things the way that anyone involved in this whole mess did, but as I’ve never been through anything like this, I can’t know for sure.

  6. When I see an article about this precious baby I am reminded that there is a monster out there that could harm anyone of our children.

Besides that a bullied bus monitor by the name of Karen Klein can make over half a million dollars in donations to go on vacation, but they can only offer a reward of 30,000 for information. After taxes what would that be about 22,000?

Where is the national outrage and justice for this baby? Maybe a million dollars and someone will talk. If her face and story isn’t national news the public outrage just slowly goes away. Keep this baby in the press!!!!! Keep people talking about her life. Make a fundraiser!! Lets get some answers. She was (presuming she is in heaven now) an innocent victim of some cruel person/persons and they deserve to Rot so they can never hurt another helpless, innocent person again.

  7. One of these days the net is going to drop on those involved. One of them will get into another legal mess and a deal will be put on the table that only a fool wouldn’t take. That’s when the case will be cracked.

  8. This is very sad   Everyone in that house knows what happend.  NO one in the house wants to claim a 30,000.00  reward.  They are hoping to walk free.  IF there was an outsider involved of course they would want the money, they have nothing to lose.  Key to this story is… Inside Job! .  Now  go get em boys!

  9. someone should at least be honest, for god sakes come forward and say where this little angel is and what happened to her, have the balls and say what really had happened don’t let others influence you or threaten you about the truth JUST BE HONEST FOR THIS LITTLE ANGEL AND GIVE HER FAMILY THE PEACE THEY NEED ,THE CLOSURE TO THIS !!!

  10. “State police spokesman Stephen McCausland says that since then, investigators have received 1,200 leads, including many from psychics.”

Note to the State Police and Associated Press: Psychics don’t exist, only those who claim to be psychics.

  11. The problem is with this is that they have  evidence and be certain, without the evidence their hands are tied and Im sure they are working on this case very hard.  They don’t want to mess it up and have them walk free, Im sure they know who did it but just cant prove it yet but give them time something will turn up at least i hope it does.

  12. Award is over.   Time to get creative and go get them!!   Everyone in that house knows what happened,  how about starting with  tampering of  evidence.
