ANSON, Maine — Three individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with a burglary and theft of copper at a Main Street residence Sunday morning.

Joshua Vincent, 28, who was out on bail on an unrelated theft charge, was charged with Class B burglary, Class D theft and violation of conditions of release; Genevieve King, 34, was charged with Class B burglary and Class D theft; and Leon King, 31, was charged with a probation violation, according to a release from Det. Lieutenant Carl E. Gottardi II of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a possible burglary and theft at the Main Street residence around 4 a.m. The investigating officer found a rear-side door had been forced open, copper pipes had been stripped from the home and household items had been removed, Gottardi said in the release.

The residents were not home at the time.

A subsequent investigation by Crpl. Ritchie Putnam led officers to a separate residence at 77 Main Street in Anson and, after obtaining a search warrant, officers discovered and recovered stolen copper piping and other stolen metals and property.

The officers also found tools believed to have been used in the burglary in a green 2000 GMC Jimmy vehicle, which was parked behind the residence, and other articles believed to be stolen from other recent burglaries in Somerset County were also recovered.

The vehicle was seized as evidence and further charges are expected pending review by the district attorney’s office.

Putnam was assisted by Gottardi, Detective Matthew Cunningham and Deputies Joseph Jackson and Ronnie Blodgett.

  1. Nice, for a few hundred dollars in copper the home owner is now stuck for thousands of dollars in plumbing bills and an uninhabitable house. Lets hope they had insurance.

    1. absolutely agree.  I think as part of the sentencing these clowns should be forced to use an outhouse exclusively during the months of December, January, February and March to perform their business.

  2. If they’re out doing this while on probation and out on bail, keep em locked up til they get sentenced, hopefully to the MAX!!

  3. It takes a special man to wear a proper mustach….or a special mustach for a proper man?  This is an example of neither.

  4. I wonder if this is their first time. My father in laws camp was broken into and all of the copper pipe was stolen. It’s an hour away from Anson though.

  5. Justice would be if all people convicted of theft related offences or drug charges lost all federal and state assistance. No EBT cards, no Medicare, no medicaid, nothing.

  6. A lot of good ideas here, take away welfare for felons, use outhouses, these kind of people are the lowlife that everyone has to support their whole lives, they are the kind who cann’t get out of bed to go to work or get the kids ready for school, one good idea would be to have a factory type job that they were required to be at at 7:00 am, like the old prison farm.  It is hard to enforce anything which is too bad.
