CLINTON, Maine — A Clinton teenager who had been on the run from law enforcement for two days was captured late Thursday, according to police.

Timothy Ezell, 19, had escaped through the rear window of a parked police car in Winslow on Tuesday night. Authorities found him in the woods in Clinton late Thursday, according to Capt. Dan Davies of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.

A resident had tipped Clinton police off that Ezell was hiding in the woods behind a house on Thursday, according to Davies.

Clinton officers contacted the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office, and a K-9 unit was able to locate Ezell hiding in a bush, Davies said. He was taken into custody without incident.

Ezell had been arrested Tuesday evening after a car burglary had been reported in Clinton. When he was taken to the Winslow police station for processing, he escaped the cruiser by rolling the back window down.

In addition to the burglary charge Ezell faces from the vehicle burglary, he is now facing charges of escape and refusing to submit to arrest, according to Davies.

Ezell is being held at the Kennebec County Jail without bail.

  1. He rolled the back window down and made a escape. You can’t make this stuff up. Well at least they didn’t put him in the back of a pickup, he would have never figured out how to open the tail gate.

  2. “Sir I am going inside, you just stay right there, crack the window down if you must, but I know you already done some bad stuff but I am warning you, don’t escape through the window OK?”

Either this kid is good or the cuffs should have stayed on a little longer.

  3. Musta been in the parking lot at Dunkin’ – they  really should make cops use the drive thru when they have a perp in the back……

  4. Now that Houdini has been recaptured, I expect that he will be watched more closely. But he proves that you can run, but you can’t hide, for long.

  5. The information in this article doesn’t cover his prior arrests. I just read an article somewhere else that told of his past arrests. He fled once before this for a different ‘situation’, and jumped 30 feet into the  Kennebec River. If the officers knew of that ‘situation’, it was a bad move to not tighten those cuffs well, and forget to lock the back door controls. You just gotta laugh.
