SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Karen D’Andrea announced her immediate resignation from the Town Council on Monday, citing “additional career responsibilities which leave me unable to maintain the high standards I set for myself as a public servant.”
D’Andrea, who also has been chairwoman of the ordinance committee, was in the first year of her second, three-year council term. In her tenure on the council, she worked to create ordinances governing the installation of wind turbines, regulating pawn shops and to restrict the use of pesticides on municipal properties.
D’Andrea also helped found Scarborough Buy Local and promised to remain active in the community.
