BRUNSWICK, Maine — A 29-year-old Brunswick woman who police say sold her daughter’s ADHD pills near a local school was indicted last week for drug trafficking and endangering the welfare of a child.
Amanda Holmes, of 2A Robinson Ave., was indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury on three counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, two counts of trafficking in scheduled drugs — both felonies — and the misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
Detectives from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s Portland office, working with the Brunswick Police Department, arrested Holmes at her home on June 28.
They allege that in June, she took pills from her 8-year-old daughter’s prescription medication Ritalin (methylphenidate hydrochloride), a stimulant used to treat attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, among other diagnoses, and sold the drugs to an informant at her Pleasant Street home, Brunswick Police Detective Rich Cutliffe said Wednesday.
Agents also allegedly recovered cash they say was profit from previous drug sales, as well as 44 Ritalin tablets, Cutliffe told The Times Record in June.
The charges were elevated to aggravated trafficking because the sales allegedly occurred within 1,000 feet of Maine Region 10 Technical High School on Church Road, police said at the time.
Information about Holmes’ next scheduled court appearance was not available at press time.

I hope this is not true, because not only is this illegal, it is positively immoral.
Good lucrative business,Get your kids on Ritalin then sell them.Chances are the prescription was paid for by the taxpayers. She’s no mother of the year that’s for sure!
Also, she will have no shame, they usually don’t.
definitely gets the mother of the year award!!!! solid attempt at parenting! NOT
Want to bet she was getting disability for her kid because of her ADHD?
Nah, I thought if pills fix the the issue, like when glasses fix blindness there is no disability. You have to find a way to afford being normal or part of the master or super race, or be screwed.
I agree with people, I think Ritalin is over prescribed, and school systems need to do something different besides force parents to get medications or take their kids out of school. See the bigger problems it creates?
I agree, we get kids on local farm food, off of chemicals, make/keep neighborhood schools so the majority can walk to school and get that energy out of their system before and after school. We are designed to migrate. Let kids have the recesses they used to have years ago. It’s also been proven that attention deficit disorder is lessened or gone with more playtime/physical activity time, like eat less carbs and the symptoms of diabetes goes away.
My kids always had issues in the fall. They were so physically active in the summer, it was a huge adjustment to sit in a classroom all day, but if I let them watch TV or play video games all day to stay used to that schedule, I’d be a bad parent.
Hope they inform the child’s doctor…
I’ve heard this of being done in my area, makes me ill.
Why is it that kids behaved without Ritalin when I was young? Maybe we need to start disciplining them and start feeding them good food instead of chemicals. Doctors dont even call the school to see what is going on. Most kids dont even need the drug and it makes them crazy when they are on it.
Prolly a better use for it than forcing it on the poor child.
LISTEN to this parents and teachers; DRUGS are not the way legal or illegal.
Most likley living in sec 8 housing….
