BANGOR, Maine — A truck’s forklift and steel beam frame payload heading I-95-southbound failed to completely clear the Union Street bridge overpass around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
The impact of the truck, driven by Ronald Bealieu of Owen J. Folsom, Inc., caused possible damage to a beam and PVC sheathing around utility lines running under the bridge. State police used a tape measure to assess the structural damage to the overpass.
“It came down through from Stillwater Avenue without a problem,” said Trooper Phil Pushard, who is part of the state police commercial vehicle unit. “It had gone under other overpasses” but hit the Union Street bridge.

oopsy!
I was wondering what had happened. I was about to get on 95 southbound from Ohio street when I noticed traffic was backed up. Thankfully you can jump right back off and exit on Union which I did and then jumped on 95 from Hammond.
That’s what happens when you let those huge trucks on the interstate!
That is where the Huge Trucks are supposed to be. Rather them drive through your neighborhood?
they dont normally measure damage with a tape measure…more than likely they were double checking the 13-6 clearance the bridge is supposed to have.
Yeah, the 13-6 was before 2 repaving jobs…:) Whoops, did I do that????
This overpass has been a problem for many years it needs to be fixed.
Not broken PVC pipe! That stuff is irreplaceable!
That sure must have surprised the driver.
Whoops, did I do that???????
Steamah through….
The guy in uniform he is going to have a massive heart attack on the spot forget about the bridge! Geez hate to see that sooo preventable. I wonder if he ahd to pay double for his health insurance if that would change his ways????
