WINSLOW, Maine — A woman used a pair of nunchucks to keep her ex-boyfriend at bay last weekend and the man ended up under arrest, according to police.
Christopher Fox, 33, of Winslow had been drinking at the Bob Inn in Waterville on Oct. 6, and later that evening, walked across the Kennebec River to the woman’s house and started banging on the door of her Monument Street apartment, according to Winslow police Sgt. Josh Veilleux.
Arguing ensued once Fox entered the apartment, according to Veilleux, and he wouldn’t leave despite repeated requests by the woman to vacate the premises.
Veilleux said Fox was agitated because he thought the woman was seeing another man, and he pushed her throughout the apartment, the fight growing so violent a stove and refrigerator in the woman’s kitchen were knocked out of place.
The woman tried to call 911 on two occasions, but both times Fox managed to rip her cellphone away, the sergeant said. Fox had struck the woman with a pull-up bar on one occasion, but she was able to strike back, grabbing a pair of nunchucks from the living room in attempt to hold Fox off.
It worked, as the woman managed to call police with her cellphone on the third attempt, Veilleux said. Fox did rip it away again, but not before the woman gave police her address, and Winslow police Sgt. Haley Fleming and Officer Brad Hubert were en route.
After the woman hit Fox with the nunchucks, he managed to grab her and pin her against a wall, but she eventually got loose and scampered to her bedroom, Veilleux said. Fox eventually grabbed a knife from the kitchen, locking the apartment and making threats against himself and the victim.
The woman managed to unlock the door and escape, but Fox was right behind her, the sergeant said. She believed Fox saw her on the phone with police, and he ran in the other direction and she ran back to the apartment.
Police soon arrived, and found the woman bleeding from the mouth area, and officers began searching for Fox.
He was eventually tracked down and arrested, Veilleux said. Fox had given police a fake name at first, but police were able to confirm his identity with a photograph on record.
Fox is facing charges of aggravated criminal trespass, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, domestic violence assault, criminal mischief and possession of marijuana, the sergeant said.
A friend of the woman’s drove her to the emergency room for treatment, and she returned home later that evening.

will probably be released on “time served.” Then return again.
Hand cuff him to the bars and let her finish her job with Mr. Nunchucks.
Glad she is OK.
Who wrote the article? He “walked across the Kennebec River”, and she “scampered to her bedroom”. There has to be better ways to describe those actions.
I noticed the descriptions you mentioned, “walked across the River”, and “scampered to her bedroom” also. Sort of out of a romance novel.
But “walked across the Kennebec River” adds a little fantasy or science fiction to the romance novel. Maybe a new series by Nora Roberts? Anyway, Ryan McLaughlin is credited for the story.
If his picture was already on file – that means he has been in trouble with the law before, correct? If that is the case, lock his sorry butt up and keep him there this time! He obviously needs some help…
The Bob Inn, nunchucks, walking on water.

scampered? really? how about “fled” or “retreated”? much more appropriate when talking about a violent home invasion.
