NAPLES, Maine — A Bridgton man was arrested Monday night after Cumberland County deputies say he held up a Naples pharmacy in search of prescription drugs.
Anthony Mattia, 26, of Wayside Drive in Bridgton was charged with robbery, falsifying physical evidence and violation of conditions of release in connection with the incident, which the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department said took place at 7:22 p.m. at the Roosevelt Trail Rite Aid Pharmacy.
According to deputies, Mattia went into the store and gave the pharmacist a note demanding prescription narcotics. Once he had received the drugs, he fled, according to the sheriff’s office statement Tuesday morning.
Deputy Raymond McIntire pulled over Mattia’s vehicle on Route 11 in Casco less than 10 minutes later and arrested him.
No weapon was displayed during the incident, and nobody was harmed, the sheriff’s office said.
At the time of his arrest Monday night, Mattia reportedly was out on bail after previous charges of receiving stolen property.

We should make an example of this guy, so that pharmacy theft doesn’t become a trend here in Maine. oh, wait….
The example has been well established.
Catch and release.
Catch and release.
Catch and release……..
Actually it’s taken a bit of time for some of these cases to be work there way through the courts and some pretty good sentences have been meted out lately. My daughter is a retail pharmacist so I watch it pretty closely hoping that everyone of these people gets locked away for a long time. A much higher percentage seemed to be getting caught as well.
Maybe true but, they never get the maximum sentence. Now is the time to start.Sooner or later one of these robber is going to cut loose and someone innocent is going to die.
This thief had been released on bail after being involved
in other thievery related crimes.
Like I said, catch and release.
Best wishes to your daughter in her chosen profession.
I agree, but I do not “LIKE”. :) When will we decide we have had enough; after a legislator’s relative is killed?
YES another one bites the dust, chalk up another one. police makeing good progress catching these scum.
Someone whos been hit by 5 IED’s in war and had people die in their arms while trying to serve our country and protect our freedom, and gone through severe PTSD and had to take lives of enemies obviously can suffer traumatic brain injury and then some, so hopefully he will get the help he needs as someone whos suffered all that obviously can think unclear and make unwise decisions, so please let GOD be the one to judge and just pray on a disable veteran of our country to get help he longs for. Im not making excuses for is actions, and he was arrested prior for purchasing stolen property not knowing it to be stolen, my brother deserves to pay for his mistake but what he turley needs is HELP and not to be called names when you dont know the person he is and what all has done to him.
