BREWER, Maine — Children and adults check out the LifeFlight of Maine helicopter that landed during the Trucks and Treats event at the Lafayette Family Cancer Care of Maine building in Brewer Saturday. Hundreds of kids and their parents came to the event, which featured firetrucks from several towns. Children could trick-or-treat and receive candy from firefighters. The event also served to raise awareness and as a fundraiser for the new Children’s Cancer and Treatment Center in the building. Michael Crowley, the president of EMHS Foundation and Chief Philanthropy Officer for EMMC, said that about $2.9 million of the needed $3.3 million has been raised toward the new center, which is slated to open in December of this year.

This is wonderful seeing a community come together for this event. There is a facebook page called Battle4aCure, it’s a prayer page for kids with cancer. We need to raise awareness , of how many sick children are fighting for their lives everyday. We need to find a cure!
