BANGOR, Maine — Bangor police are searching for a man who was reported missing in late October.

Shawn Joseph Flewelling, 38, whose last known address was on Curve Street, was reported missing by family members on Oct. 24, Sgt. Paul Edwards said in a statement.

Flewelling was last seen on Oct. 4, according to Edwards. He is described as a white male, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Edwards did not disclose whether foul play is suspected in Flewelling’s disappearance, noting that “he’s just missing.”

Anyone with information to Flewelling’s whereabouts should call Detective Jim Carr at 947-7382 or press 6 to access the department’s tip line.

  1. I thought the City took down all the houses on Curve Street? In fact I know they did. Are there new houses there now?

  2. So he’s been missing since October 4th and it just now is making the papers? I know I say it every time but people’s memories are just not that long. This man’s picture and information should have appeared October 5th or 6th at the latest. What a shame. Someone may have recognized him if they had known. God Bless him and his family. I hope he is safe and will be found quickly.

    1. I’m not disagreeing with you that his picture should have been shown sooner. However, his FAMILY let 3 weeks pass between when he was last seen, and when they reported him missing. Nobody was alerted until October 24 that he was missing. The ball would have been rolling quicker, if someone had reported him missing sooner.

      1. Ahhh thank you. It is part of my rhetoric when I see someone’s gone missing. In my humble opinion I think the police and family should give the info sooner. Even for adults.

  3. Maybe he does not want to be found, he does not need anybody permission to take off someplace. It’s not a crime to head in another direction. The way the country is going, can anybody blame him.

  4. Adults are hard to report as missing as they are able to do as they please. So the family was most likely mandated to wait to make an official report. Hope he is away of his on accord and best wishes to him and his family.

  5. Notice that seems to be a mugshot? Hope all is well with the guy — he’s 38, not known to be retarded and may have just split — maybe found an online gal-pal and hit the road. Might be heresy to say so, but there is civilization beyond the ME/NH border. LOL

  6. given that his photo appears to be a mugshot and that he comes from Curve Street (what’s left of it after the dozers went through) are we really sure we want to find him?
